So awhile back I levelled all my gatherers and crafters to 60 and then kinda took a break. I forgot why but now I remember. Scripts. Fecking SCRIPTS.
Two of my retainers finally hit 60 last eve and I thought, ya know, I need to get them into level 60 gear. No no they aren't getting script gear, OH HELL NO ... but they can have level 60, best I can make 'em.
But then, I realized I hadn't finished getting master III/VI crafting tomes for all my crafts ... and that means blue scripts - a LOT of blue scripts. It's 1080 blue scripts to get your III/IV tomes and then x that by 7 crafts = 8260 blue scripts
just for master tomes. {Really, I should be also factoring the need to get access to your script level tools as well, because to properly craft, bis tools are just a no brainer.}
Now you may be thinking, well that's not so bad ... but it is! Because the items required to make blue script collectable items are RETARDEDly matt intensive and/or also expensive - and in another irritating turn of fate, many also require you to have master crafting III recipe access.
So an example:If I were to use my weaving ... specialist class and all that jazz .... and picked today's highest script hand-in (132-ish per item), it would be chimerical felt hose of aiming. To get the amount of blue scripts I need, would require me to craft 63 {heaps of crafting!} of these suckers, which are selling for roughly $23,000 gil each on my server - that means, I would "give away" approximately $1,467,900 gil in exchange for those 8260 scripts.
But say I was willing to go slower, and hand in items for say 12 scripts a hand in, but much less matt intensive, I could go ramie cloth. So for that I would need to craft
689 pieces of ramie cloth {and that my friends is a metric shite ton of crafting!}. Ramie is selling for about 9k each on my server at the moment, that means, I am handing over about
$6,201,000 gil in exchange for my 8260 blue scripts.
This of course doesn't take into consideration the amount of time it would take to gather the raw matts necessary to craft the item or the sale value of those raw matts OR the sheer amount of crystals required for crafting. You can send out retainers ("the kids" as I call 'em) to collect crystals, but THAT costs ventures, and so .. ya know, seal farming.
I'm not even gonna get started on the capping of script collecting either.... NUP
