Okay, it's been a year and a few months since I lasted played and well...things happened...a lot in FFXIV it seems. A new expansion had come out not too long ago and I haven't even really BEGUN with the main story from last I can remember.
Would you all say it's even worth sticking around? Because I really do want to get invested in the world of FFXIV and its lore. But what seems like a big step for me is that two expansions came out with Content Patches. Seems like I'm a few years out of touch.
I was told during Heavensward era when playing this game for the first time not to buy Heavensward until I finished the story so I wouldn't be spoiled. Which I did. But now that I'm here, is it still worth it?
And when it comes to the 2 expansions, can I still get them separately or is there a bundle?
And in terms of Crysta, I have a few from buying my subscription, what can I do with those few pieces and where?

There is plenty to do, lotz of new people leveling/ boosting/ playing. So yes. If you even remotely think you can stick it out this go around now is a fantastic time! So much to learn and do, and so much fun to be had. But again, this is all subjective. Enjoy your burrito, let us know how your adventures go..short or in it to win it.

Iirc, the expansions are sold bundled up. So if you buy stormblood, you'll get hw as well. (Not to be confused with the ffxiv online bundle where it comes with the starter arr version as well)
I was a returner too who never sub (past 1 month during hw) due to irl stuff. I only played the free log in campaigns during hw.
I joined the 1 st week sb came online. So a lot of catch-up needed to be done before getting into sb anyways. If u have the time, try it out.

Continue the main quest at your pace, the longest part (for me) is the 2.0-2.54 content before arriving to the Heavensward content.
