Rest In Peace, Count Edmont

Public
"Dear Friends,

Today, we have lost a founding figure of Ishgard as we know it today. Count Edmont de Fortemps was a man of the people. A just man, a wise man, an honorable man, a father figure, a person of influence and conviction. I knew him personally as a progressive figure in the governance of our city, of Coerthas and Dravania. He saw firsthand the end of a long struggle between man and dragon and the rise of the Firmament to become a city for all prople. He saw Ishgard as a city reborn and became a strong advocate of the Warrior of Light.

Now that he departs for Halone's sweet embrace, let us remember him as a witness of history, and an act that will be, to put it in layman's terms, tough to follow. May your soul ever rise heavensward, Count Edmont. May you rest in peace. Farewell, and thank you for showing us the way."

-Lord Commander Aymeric de Borel
The Holy See of Ishgard

"While I never know Count Edmont personally, I knew that the stories of his work penning Heavensward and the anecdotes of the heroic deeds during the Dragonsong War were true, real and captivating. He was an accomplished writer, one who put to paper scenes of war, strife, struggle, then leading to deeds of valor, of victory, of triumph. And he did well to groom his two sons to lead House Fortemps into a new era for Ishgard. Thank you, Count, for being a true ally to the Alliance and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn."

"I watch the waves of the Rhotano sea today, they are still. Still waters, calm and melancholy, as if they are mourning a hero to many people. There is sadness here in Limsa Lominsa and in La Noscea. Though we of Vylbrand are far away from Coerthas and Ishgard, we are allies united by a common purpose, to bring light and the dawn to Eorzea. Count Edmont played his role to perfection, chronicling the story of the Warrior of Light and her companions to bring great change to Ishgard, to close a monumental struggle between man and dragon and to rebuild and renew this city into a place for all people, regardless of upbringing. Now his story ends as he enters the world beyond. Thank you, Count, for standing tall with us. We will miss you, rest in peace."

-Admiral Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn

"We Gridanians share a strong bond with Ishgard and as the years pass, and relative peace has arrived to Eorzea, our bonds have become even stronger. Count Edmont was a person who believed in the power of solidarity and principles. He gave our hero, the Warrior of Light, shelter from those who threatened the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and of Alphinaud Leveilleur, indebted to Ser Estinien Wyrmblood, the Azure Dragoon, another legendary hero to this city. We mourn the death of a great individual who spent his life being a key figure in the four High Houses and even convincing Count Charlemend de Durendaire to advocate for the health and well being of the city's youth. The future is ever bright thanks to his legacy well secure in the hands of his people. Rest in peace, Count Edmont. May the Twelve watch over you as you return to the Fury's sweet embrace. Rest in peace."

-Elder Seedseer Kan-E-Senna
Gridania

"My name is Shun Rijin, Lord Hien of Doma. While we of Othard never knew Count Edmont personally, we have heard stories of him and have read his book, Heavensward, a best seller here in Othard. We in the Far East mourn the loss of a great man, a hero to Ishgardians, a strong leader and just individual. Doubtless Othard has become stronger and resolute with all its peoples now part of the Alliance. From Doma to Hingashi, to the Ruby Sea, Yanxia and the Steppe, Count Edmont has gained our respects as a selfless storyteller and advocate for unity and strength for all peoples. We offer our condolences and prayers for the soul of Count Edmont. May the kami watch over him, now and into the next life."

"Here in Ala Mhigo, we have friends who hail from Ishgard and the Temple Knights. The knowledge and resourcefulness of Ishgard's military has strengthened ours and energized Gyr Abanians everywhere. Count Edmont played a part in seeing that Ishgard would be a city reborn and renewed, and the stories that the Warrior of Light told me regarding his own efforts to be a better person to his two sons were awe-inspiring. We mourn the loss of one of the greatest Ishgardian men of our time, but we must march forward and carry in his legacy. Together, we will move Ala Mhigo heavensward and sail ever higher. Rest in peace Count Edmont. You did your duty and we will never forget you."

Ala Mhigo
