As a Summoner main and someone who plays Red
Mage frequently and healers on the side, Black Mage has been slightly frustrating to play, especially when the healer dies and I remember I no longer have a raise spell ^^;
Was in a Sohm Al party with a monk DPS and the healer died mid-boss in that one T-rex boss fight. Saw it the instant it happened and reflexively attempted to hit my usual hotbar slot for my rez spell, but obviously nothing happened(it was Surecast on my BLM bar xD). The monk then heroically let loose a LB before dying and it was just me and the tank(who was an absolute champ btw, hitting those cooldowns at exactly the right moments! Cute little fem-lala too ^^) I felt so helpless and angsty then. Haha. Usually that's the point I do a clutch swiftcast resurrection AS I DIE,(Oh I have so many stories for that xD) but not this time.
I indignantly throw on my Manaward as I pray tank and I last until the bitter end. Seeing the tank's health eventually plummet, my head goes "Ah! I wish BLM still had crossclass Physick so I can solo Vercure the tank to the end 😅" (solo-Vercure is a thing though. Sometimes in a light party the healer forgets I can rez them and zones back to the Starting Point. And so we have this situation. Orrr, there was that one time a first-timer healer accepted Raise right into Lorelei's Virgin Tears and died a 2nd time. Tank was at 10% health so they are the priority to heal before I attempt a 2nd rez)
Anyways, 悔しい!!! As a SMN main that hurt so bad :<
Any epic clutch resurrection stories to share? My fav in recent memory on SMN has to be when I expert roulette'd into the Grand Cosmos with a 1st timer tank and healer. The run went ok albeit big pulls, but at the final boss the healer died to Flaming Right, followed by the tank soon after. I swift-rezzed the healer first as our hounded machinist perished. Then, out of Swiftcast and with the boss headed straight for me, I threw on Titan-egi + Stone Wall and Surecast manual rez. I could survive a couple of hits (who says Titan-egi is irrelevant in group content!) but thank god for me my Resurrection spell completed the instant I died xD Iconic. The healer then rezzed me and I Swiftcast rezzed our MCH. However, later on, the same situation threatened to happen again near the last few % and since no one was using the LB, I helped myself to it. Ended the fight once and for all. Whew! Now that was a ton of fun! XD
My other favourite has to be during the Baesar's Wall final boss. When healer died in the middle of the room and the boss zooms to the other edge of the arena to swipe at us, I swiftcast rezzed the healer as my character was blown back by the blast, and then died. HAHA. Idk, I just found the entire scene so epic: my avatar skidding right past our healer's corpse as the swiftcast animation comes on and they wake up as I died. XD Why didn't I record that!
But anyways, I digress. Back to BLM.
New to using Leylines and oh boy the memes surrounding it are so true. Even standing at the very edge of the Leylines, somehow that 1 star shaped AoE in Sohm Al just has to target me, every single time! I feel like I'm laying down leylines just for the sole purpose of baiting AoE xD where my Between the Lines at? That and how we have to stay completely still with long cast times. Probably my least fav of the casters I guess. But will get it to 71 anyways as I'm a completionist. 71 for Trust you see :)

Aime, sorry to hear about your Sohm Al troubles, haha.
I overheard a tip from pro BLM in Savage: when you use ley lines, don't stand in its center and cast. Instead, stand at one edge, and if the boss uses an aoe on you, you can just move to the other edge, then you will be still inside your ley lines while dodging the aoe. I don't play BLM myself, but maybe you can try it out!
I play tank, so I do not have any clutch raise stories... Actually, there have been quite a few situations where I was the only one left alive, just helplessly watching the rest of the team die, haha.
I try to save party members with Clemency and cover, but my Clemency is often late, and it is dangerous to use cover recklessly. If the covered player is knocked back or gets vuln up, you will too.
PLD has tools to help the party, but they require good judgment, which I am still developing.
Nevertheless, saving a Grand Cosmos when tank + healer are both dead sounds so badass! Good work!

Regarding the Leylines, that's exactly what I did actually 😂 But the Aery(not Sohm Al, sorry) has like 8 intersecting column AoEs and also a circle AoE the size of my Leylines all stacked up so it still covers my entire Leylines. And on consecutive runs, every single one targeted me right as I put down my Leylines, only when I put down my Leylines. I wasn't troubled though. Just found it extremely amusing. The memes speak truth! Comet targeted me too. GG
Ahh that sounds really sad when you think about it(about your teammates dying one after the other). How are they taking so much damage when you're still standing?
I know next to nothing about tanking, so that bit about Cover was interesting to know :D That said, I don't think I've ever seen a tank use Clemency or Cover on someone else. Nice! 😎
Thanks! :D I tried my best! Reallyyy didn't expect it to turn out that way though. I was just casually waltzing into Expert Roulette for the first time. Never had an Expert Roulette before(never reached the end of MSQ before. Haha)
Was just here to chill tbh. Did not expect it to turn on the HEAT. 😉 But that run was LIT I must say!
