SCH Me This

Public
Yesterday I was running the new MSQ for the expansion with a friend of my FC (it's always more fun to run with a friend) and we ran into 2 more from our FC doing the same MSQ, it was kinda fun. Well we agreed that when we unlocked the next dungeon since there were 4 of us that we would run it together. My party consisted of a tank and I a dps (SMN) and the others from our FC were running as DNC and DRG. I figured that when we unlocked the dungeon I would just switch to WHM.

We unlocked the dungeon Dohn Mheg and low and behold my WHM can't enter because I'm a level behind. My SMN was at level 76, so I decided to go in as a SCH since I was the only one who had a healing class high enough in level to enter the dungeon. I may not be the greatest healer (not even close) but I have never EVER played as a SCH. The only practice I had as a SCH was from my great friend Lolo Menehune who gave me a crash coarse a while ago.

I really had no idea what rotation I was going to use, I had no spells I knew assigned to my hotbar and had no idea really how SCH worked. I felt like I was going into it blind and I saw many wipes in our future (and boy was I right). We went slow through the dungeon none of us not knowing what we were in for, and me not being very good at healing. I won't bore you with all the wipes and how long it took me to get my rotation and spells down, but we did make it through it, with a total of either 3 or 4 wipes.

I won't lie, I was terrified going in as a SCH. I get really bad anxiety in dungeons even with people I know. I couldn't imagine what it would have been like going with a bunch of randoms, with them looking at me thinking "what the #$@% is that SCH doing?" because that is how I felt. Thank you again Lolo for teaching me a little on SCH. It took me a while to figure out I was using emergency tactic wrong (I was casting the healing spell first and then emergency tactic before figuring out I was doing it backwards) What I did remember really helped me out.

And we did have a pretty great and supportive team too. That is what it really came down to. Don't give up on other players, stay positive and maybe that positivity may be used constructively and may just help you get through it.

Well Yue, I'm impressed that our ten minute quick introduction helped in anyway :D
I'd love to go over more detail whenever you have more time, but I'm happy you had a patient group to try it out with : )

If you got SCH questions Yue, feel free to send me a message in our FC discord, I main the class :)

Although I do defer to Lolo when it comes to SCH knowledge, I suspect he probably knows more about it than I do.

You're far too kind Tifka, I have no doubt your knowledge surpasses mine: )
Yue is awesome at whatever she does, with a little guidance she'll find just how much fun Scholar can be!
My only wish being that SE not Neuter Scholars dps any further D:

Thanks, I might have to take both of you up on your offer since I don't think I want to get stuck in that position again. I didn't get to enjoy the beauty of that dungeon since I was too busy trying to memorize what each spell did

I would be delighted to ease you into the job Yue : )
After a more detailed explanation, I'm confident Tifka can enlighten you to all the current changes and higher-level abilities and how they synergize
