3 Weeks of Fantasy! My thoughts!
Well, I've put in some time with this game and I have to say, I'm impressed. I'm finally getting the hang of the mechanics and learning that you can change classes to fit your needs...I suppose it's more of a thing to do if you're active in those dungeon and raid things (I still have yet to do a raid) so you can change your characters' class to a healer if there are none available or a tank if someone sucks at it...
I've made a number of friends and found a small pirate-y FC group who seem to be a lot of fun to be around (when they are around) but I've yet to join up mainly because I don't like to associate myself with anything that involves me needing to contribute my time or pretend money into. Not saying that I don't like to associate myself with the people of said faction; I only mean to say that I don't like to associate myself in general with any group that has expectations of me...such as being a team player because let's face it, I'm anything but that. I play by my own rules. Yes, I am the "lone wolf" and I don't mind it. Mind you, I don't have a problem doing things with other people and helping out so long as I'm not being forced into doing it just because I have a little banner next to my name.
I am quickly finding out (and also thanks to Ash's previous posts about how weird people can get on this game/site) how serious other players are. Like...this game is their literal life outside of whatever closet they occasionally come out of. I get it...your character is serious and had a terrible life up until this point when he/she found out they were chosen to complete this otherwise impossible task of saving the world so now they're even more angsty but secretly excited and WHY IS THAT HALF-NAKED RED HEAD SPRAYING CHAMPAGNE EVERYWHERE?! Yeah, I just ruined your monologue. Deal with it.
It's cool to have a serious character and well-thought out storyline, but don't forget when you're OOC...YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A DICK. There's a difference between being IN character and being OUT of character and if your character is a direct reflection of you and you happen to be a miserable twatwaffle, then maybe you ought to consider playing a character who doesn't have the personality of a used diaper?
If any of you happen to run across Avice in the Quicksand, do feel free to come up and chat. She's quite friendly and may even offer you a bottle of champagne! Warning though, if you're a sensitive type of person or prude, you may want to avoid getting in a conversation with her. Also, to those who drink while playing the game, I am always open to drinking games on Friday and Saturday nights! So come find me (and stay tuned for a follow-up blog of a drinking game).
Well, that's all I have to say for now. I'm sure I'll have something else that'll cross my mind eventually!
Glad you are enjoying the game Avrice. I have to say, I don't think I have actually SEEN any open roleplay on Faerie. If it happens, they probably do in some dark, dank corner somewhere. ;p And yes, people who use this game to escape their dreary, mundane lives and hide from the world are some of the more weird people in the game and best avoided. If we were on the same server, I'd soooo hang out with you. LOL
@Annabel I can probably make an alt account! It may not be Avice though ;)
I don't blame you rocking the lone wolf thing. My FC is just me and one friend and some alts. Mateus has tons of open RP and tons of social chances outside the FC setting. So its easy to satisfy the best of both. Every time I find a FC and devote myself to it. I find out how selfish they are and how I'm important so long as I can serve them.
I can't be in a FC, partially due to my selfish nature and partially because after I join if they have a house I have to go to all the neighboring homes and knock on their doors and say, "Hello, I'm Ashram and the law says I must notify you that I have been charged in the past with......."
@ash you would do that shit, lol. And yeah, I don't do FCs or anything involving mandatory group participation because I'm selfish a/f about my time.
Avrice, if you joined my fc, we would not make you do anything. Its just for easy chatting. Most on there do their own thing anyway unless they are bored, then we will group up to do something.
