[A late entry: due to my extensive use of screenshots, I am going to have to remove pics from older blogs. I'm only allowed so many, & reached my limit with blog #7. I'm truly sorry if you review the older blogs & ss are missing; it cannot be helped. The information posted is still useful, & you can find examples in latest blogs. - Bel]
I recently was able to upgrade to a mid-size house in the Lavender Beds & started taking screenshots of my new home as I got sections finished. I know it can be overwhelming (& expensive) to decorate your house, then I realized I'm a bit of a photographer & artist anyway, so suddenly realized I had a ton of screenshots for the old house, a cottage, as well as the new one. I truly loved the cottage when I finished with it (Finished only means I ran out of room - lol. I couldn't place anything more without running out of floor space & Bel does like to be able to navigate through her sanctum/refuge/home.) So I decided to start this blog to show how I decorated both of them. I hope that it might help others to make their own personal choices on decorating their FFXIV home/shelter/palace etc. - lol. I soon discovered that my retainers would occasionally bring back things for my house - that's how I got my Glade Bathtub (a spa) & my Ahriman Sideboard. You, too, will have this good fortune - just keep upgrading their outfits as they level up. As they are gatherers, I just saved my old gear for them, & made the rest.
Today, I will show you the outside front views of both houses, then discuss briefly the feeling I wanted to evoke (in me, as well as visitors) of my personal choices for decorating. Folks need to arrange their homes as it fits their wishes, whether a sanctum/refuge, a trophy space, dungeon, even a cafe or other place of business - whatever they choose to love about their personal space.
I called my home(s) Bel's Wood, & flagged it/them as a Designer House, Sanctum & Message Book, although I also have aquariums. The mid-size house is a Moogle House, as that set of walls was available in my FC's Chest (Thank you, CasualGamers, my FC on Famfrit.) Both plots were on the same ward as the FC Estate. I had discovered that the 'composite' walls for my cottage were not my favorite look (not a fan of dark shingles), so grabbed the moogle walls (& do like it, especially as our FC logo is a moogle (hee hee). I don't want to overload folks on my first posting, so I will leave this for now, but will leave you with a view inside from the entry door of each house (always will post the cottage first, unless I state otherwise), so show you a hint of what else might be there for my next post. I labeled my house as a Sanctum - a place of rest & refuge after a long day of exploring, fighting monsters & running a dungeon or two. I chose to have light (not a dark, shadowy place) & no monsters (giant-size, anyway) in my home. If you are happy with dark shadows & monsters, however, I say - Go with it! But if you want visitors, just remember they might trip over stuff in the dark (hee hee hee).
Here are my "lobby" views facing directly to the back wall of the main floor in both houses. Enjoy & I'll see you next time!
Thank you for joining me,
Belinda Forrest of Famfrit, <CG> (CasualGamers)
Looking good Bel! It's very inspiring to see how enthusiastic you are about this! <3
Thank you! I hope to keep it interesting. If any of you are willing to have a screenshot of you own home posted here, especially different motifs from mine. Let me know & give me your ffxiv address: world, residential area, ward & plot #s. I won't use/make negative comments, only what might be useful for those trying to figure out what to do with all their "stuff" ;)
Haha I'm too poor to have a home BUT I will definitely get one in Shadowbringers expansion. I have some fun ideas too so when I am ready we can talk shop!
