Hello fellow Eorzeans!
Following feedback on
Reddit, I have prepared additional data on the ownership of mounts obtained in Eden's Gate and Eden's Verse to supplement the bulk numbers displayed
here.
Here, the bar chart displays the owners of Eden's Verse: Refulgence (Savage) (E8S) mounts as a proportion of those who own Eden's Gate: Sepulture (Savage) (E4S) mounts. This chart has been created in an effort to reflect the overall success of players who actively raid on each server, while excluding from the population those players who do not actively raid. When reading these proportions, the following caveats should be borne in mind:
1. Survivorship bias: Only those who successfully obtain the mount from E4S are used to assess the proportion. Those who attempt E4S but fail to obtain its mount are excluded.
2. The analysis fails to consider players who stopped raiding after Eden's Gate and players who skipped Eden's Gate. The former type of player will lower the proportion, whereas the latter type of player will raise the proportion.
3. The analysis fails to consider players who stopped raiding after Eden's Gate. Such players will lower the proportion.
4. Owners of E8S mounts do not necessarily own E4S mounts. Players for which this applies will inflate the proportion (potentially beyond 100%, although this is not observed for any server).
5. These data do not necessarily suggest which server has the most robust raiding community, as some servers with high proportions have very small populations of players who raid (e.g., Spriggan and Zalera).
Regarding the fourth caveat, I believe that aptitude and commitment are best assessed from a population's ability to obtain the raid mount within a short amount of time. (After all, given infinite time, 100% of an active raiding population will obtain a mount, regardless of individual aptitude or weeks invested). So, as a rough estimate of aptitude and commitment, I have included in the table proportions evaluated from not only the 5 December census, but also the 4 August and 22 September censuses.
