Really Dry Quest at Level 50

So I've reached the first milestone of the game. Yes hitting lvl 50 was quite an easy task. The game has been alright, story was ok from lvl 1 to 50. But I was quite taken aback when the main quests starts becoming really boring.
Yes main quests gets really boring at lvl 50. The excitement only comes when u have to kill Leviathan, was an interesting hour or so. Following that, its back to boredom again.
I really hope the game picks up soon or I will start loosing interest. Unless I'm missing something?
Besides following the main quests, I really don't know what I should do, is there a something that people grind for? Like gems or material? The mmo that I usually play, I was always grinding for something, less or no main quest but constant grinding for jewels or hunting rare pieces of armor or weapon. That's why I'm lost in ffxiv.
Anyway hope it will be better soon and hope I figure out what is it people grind for in this game.
There is a lot to this game. I highly recommend focusing on the main story quest and work your way to the Shadowbringer expansion. When 5.25 hits, you will be able to farm the new relic weapon. If you don't have the expansion, Google ff14 relic weapon. You'll find a wiki to help you with dated content. Also Google Eureka Ff14 - to farm weapon, armor and mounts. Hope this helps.
ARR- Boring fetch quests, ton of needless staring
Heavens Ward: Better, emotional roller coaster. More fetch quests, great Relics, Moogle beastribe stuff.
Dark Knight (tank) fun / Astrologian (Healer) also fun / MCH dps fun to many
Storm Blood: Good, annoying characters, interesting developmental characters that are bad ass.
Sam I am (Dps) super powerhouse / Red mage (Dps) I don't play it but people like it
Shadow Bringers: Awesome story, great immersion. Little bit of fetch, lot of dialogue.
Gun breaker from Shadow Bringers is a game changer for some. I find it really engaging.
Dancer (DPS) also from Shadow Bringer. Fancy Dps, fun, tons of shiny shit to press to make more shiny shit flash.
All and all if you can wade through ARR (A realm reborn) , get past the majority of the boring crap you will be rewarded with a slow, albeit better main story quest line going into Heavens Ward.
Of course, this all purely subjective in nature to each persons idea of "FUN". So yea, good luck.
