Yet another useless recap

Public
I’m not even sure where to begin with, nor if I have the will to actually keep writing. But here I am.
The Blog always has been just me venting or keeping track of our progresses anyway, so nothing of big import. I dunno why I kept writing until now, maybe it was just another way to pass time like reading, drawing or writing my story.
Well, whatever. I at least find funny/relaxing re-reading what I wrote in the past, so if not for the others, I’ll just stick to keeping it a personal memento.

———————————————————————————
The situation with the static seems rather good: I didn’t have my hopes high, but last week something unexpected happened. To explain better, it’s probably best to do a quick rewind back to monday evening: we already cleared P5S for the week, so P6S prog is in order. Unfortunately, we’re 7/8 because after days of city shouting and Community Finder recruitment, no one showed up. Fortunately, for that day, Eri didn’t have prog with his static and decided to help us out with ours.
It went.. discretely well, all considered. Still some mess-ups here and there, but it’s normal, since we’re still learning (that was our literal second try in). Sure, some errors were definitely distractions that caused a wipe immediately after and could’ve been avoided easily because they’re mechanics we did several times already, but no hard feels: as said, everyone has their pace at learning and we’re no week 1 hardcore players, so it’s all good.

Before going to bed, I got back for some minutes in the server with my usual IRL friends, and I noticed there was Xevad in the voice chat, so I dropped in and we chitchatted a bit: he was going on with EW’s MSQ because the sub was running out (3 days left) and he wanted to at least finish it before that point (he was doing Going Underground).
He asked me how the prog in Savages was going: I explained him our woes about the eighth, missing member which was tolling us quite a bit, and that we were starting to give up, next step being searching for a non-italian member to include in the static regardless, with all of the uneasiness it’d cause.
At that point, he spoke up: «Well, if you’re having all these issues, I can come and fill the spot!». At first I thought it was one of his usual jokes, so I just chuckled along it and kept explaining. But then he repeated it, and I realized he was actually serious.
My first reaction has been some sort of renewed hope mixed with actual worry: I know him enough by now and I also know he’s been constantly and hiccupingly playing all the time long, most of the times only playing once or twice a week and at very late times like 9:00 PM (server time) and onward up until like 11:00 PM, when we used to either start disconnecting, or weren’t always up to run roulettes.
The preface wasn’t too tempting, since a static isn’t exactly something you can shirk from: if you join one, you agree at the times and days it sets, and missing is an actual deal. I let him know these points, but, regardless, he seemed serious and determined about it, saying if he had dates to respect, he’d organize his IRL duties accordingly.
With the times and days theoretically set, only one, big point stood between him and his join: he never did an high-end before. Now, I know what you’re thinking: this tier of Savage is already quite difficult in itself, and surely someone not knowing what a spread position, a flare, a role, a protean or anything high-end specific is, definitely doesn’t fit in here, or at least requires some more time refining their skills on something a little easier, like EXs or unsynced old Savages. But time isn’t by our side: we need our eighth member as soon as possible, or we risk wasting weeks of progress for naught.
The situation with Xevad brought back a memory to me: I was just like him, once upon a time. Back in my first Savage, with little knowledge of the high-ends, and no idea what I was going into, but with the will to get good and do engaging content, regardless of all the mistakes I still made due to either tunnel vision, performance anxiety, or just ignorance on how to play a Job correctly. He reminded me of myself, and the fact everyone has to start somewhere, so the course of actions was clear to me: I’d have forged him and tested both his will and mettle. Be what it may, I don’t want to send him into something he can’t handle nor ruining his gaming experience, but for the day, we just slept over it and I decided to renew his sub for the coming month to start with.

We fortunately cleared P5S the day after, after finding the rando in PF… But it’s been a hot mess. I even ran out of MP the whole last minute of the fight. Too many deaths for stupid mess-ups.
Messy as it is, a clear is still a clear, I suppose. I just wish it doesn’t become a habit. Unfortunately, we cleared pretty late (around 9:20 PM (server time)), so we really didn’t feel like opening a PF searching for a rando and practice for less than half a hour at best, so we just called a day.
In the meantime, Xevad unlocked Aitiascope, so I ended up helping him.
The following days have seen me crafting him a full Rinascita set and helping him out with Pandæmonium mostly, altogether with the FC, and a quite scuffed P6S prog on thursday, ending with something actually good on the weekend: the training finally began.
I taught him about MCH, practice on my house’s dummy, played Dungeons and Raids together and discussed on how to improve and what to focus on while playing. Obviously, it’s still the beginning, and mistakes will be made regardless, but as long as there is will to improve, there is a way. Finally, I explained him how endgame gearing worked, from weekly Tomestones to melding.
On saturday, we went for Extremes: in just a hour and half, me, him, Mukuku, Reeda and Eri, altogether with other three randos, could defeat Zodiark, Hydaelyn and the Endsinger. I didn’t expect such fast clears, so I decided to anticipate the “final trial”, and went into Storm’s Crown EX. As expected, that, instead, proved to be quite the slap. It took us several hours and had to change setups and randos six times before finally getting his kill today, but we managed.
We’ll be headed into P5S tomorrow as a finally full, real static, let’s see how it goes.

My final verdict? He still has a long way to go, but he definitely got what it takes and I can see him getting better and better in due time. The various high-end mechanics such as multiple towers, role responsibilities, grouping, macros, positions etc. are still a bit alien to him, but it’s only natural, given it’s actually the first time he’s seeing and doing them. Even with just a couple days of training, he started getting used to the dance that are downtimes and is developing muscular memory on the Job, while learning how to read the macros and translate them into fight’s phases and positioning. I am happy to say we can finally be defined a complete static, ready to grow up together and have fun.

———————————————————————————
My farming of Barbie girl is instead going… Ok, but not exactly well. I currently have 70 tokens, which means 15 runs left to go, but, at the same time, I’m still missing PLD, RPR, SAM and RDM’s weapons (alongside the mount, obviously). As usual, I can’t seem to find decent groups: the current clear:wipe ratio for “farming parties” I’ve been in is around 1:3, which is alarming to say the least.
———————————————————————————
Real life as of now only holds disappointments, within my family, mostly, so I have no will to talk about it, ‘cause it only enrages me more.
I’m still quite undecided on what I actually want to do with my life (work-wise) as of now, but I’m starting to narrow the possibilities. I’ll be searching for a job as software developer, graphic designer or simple typographer at first, and perhaps widen the search with time, including more and more jobs I didn’t consider at first.

———————————————————————————
I should really find the will to finish leveling up Mitran and Noloic by the way… Not having all of my characters to omni90 strikes me bad. I want them all in endgame already, dammit.
I spent the previous days gathering and crafting for all complete Rinascita sets for Alis, and she now is endgame-ready. I’ll probably farm some EXs with her once I’ll be done on Enesha… If I don’t finally decide to instead level up the bois, that is.

A. Everyone starts somewhere in regards to hard stuff. For me, it was Memoria, it was my first current EX fight and I was absolute shit in it, but I DID eventually make it and it opened the way to other hard fights. Your friend will learn and get better if he tries.

And YES, Reliability is soooooo important in a static member! You can be the most awesome player ever, but that don't mean crap if you are NEVER there for the raids!

Honestly, that's why I think they keep me, at least I am there

I fully agree. As long as one has the will to get better and commit, only good tidings await.

My friends initiated me to high-ends with Hades EX back in 5.3. The times I cleaved someone with my ghost are hilarious (I was a DRG main back then). Then I got in E5S, and that is what gave what now is my drug: ADRENALINE.

And anxiety. A shitload of anxiety, too. 😂
But in general I always have been down for challenges.

I’m making yesterday’s recap now, after that night, I can see a brighter future.
