Leaving Ishgard

Public

Leaving Ishgard

The usual bustle of activity filled the Rising Stones, headquarters of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Adventurers of all skill levels came and went, while the heads of the organization each did what they did best. Tataru shuffled papers and reached out to contacts various and far flung. Alphinaud gave orders and dispatched people hither and yon. The Archons studied and theorized, and for the most part, things ran as they always did.
For the most part.
Alphinaud stepped out of the solar and called to Tataru, “Send a messenger to Ishgard, please Tataru. I fear we’re going to need R’lyeh for this one.” A new primal had appeared in the South Sagolii Desert that would need to be dealt with as soon as possible. Riol had experience, of course, but no one was better suited to face a primal than the Scion’s Champion.
“Oh no!” Tataru exclaimed, arms flailing. She spun to face Alphinaud, victimizing a half-full tea cup that had been abandoned on the corner of her desk. “I forgot! She’s not in Ishgard! Indeed, they sent word to us looking for her. I... I don’t know where she is!”
Annoyance settled like a dark cloud across Alphinaud’s face, his plans upset in their inception. “What do you mean, she’s not in Ishgard? She lives there! Despite my objections. I tried her link-pearl, but there’s no answer. How does one lose the most powerful person in the realm?”
Y’shtola gently closed the book she had been perusing and turned toward the commotion. “If that person wants to be lost, how does one not?” she asked rhetorically.
“She’s moved to the Crystarium,” G’raha Tia remarked, not looking up from his own tome. “She left Ishgard ...around two weeks or so ago, I believe. She requested one of the soul vessels so that she could access and make use of the Crystal Tower in the First. I gave her mine. I imagine if you really want to reach out to her, you’ll need to contact Feo Ul.”
Alphinaud’s jaw fell slack. He wordlessly stared at G’raha Tia until the Allagan Scholar at last raised and tilted his head. ‘You what? You gave her what? I... I...” he stuttered.
Tia smiled wryly. “Please, Alphy, do have a seat. Tell me all about how I should have stopped her, as well as what methods I should’ve used.” He gestured to a chair across from his own. The young Elezen plopped down into the proffered chair and sighed. Tia continued, “It’s clear to me that, other than what happened with Ardbert, she chose not to share everything about herself that she learned while in the First. It certainly isn’t my place to share it in her stead, but suffice it to say that there are things that are more important than the latest resurfacing of Ifrit.”
Y’shrola turned to face G’raha, her translucent eyes narrowing. “Does this have to do with Emet-Selch and all that which he said to her? Think you truth in it all?”
Tia nodded. “I think it was all true. And now she goes to deal with it in her own way. It isn’t for us to question or interfere. In those last awful moments, as the tower stole from that boy his weeping soul, and I at last surrendered my own body... I knew I had gone too far.  As the last of my consciousness entered the receptacle that would travel with her between worlds, my final thoughts were that be it the hero's will, we would set this too to right."
