Ye Olde Newbie

Public
Once more unto the breach.
My interest in other worlds, galaxies and realms has dwindled so it's back to my age old fallback of trying to get into FFXIV.

I've tried FFXIV many times.
So many times.
Unlocked all the Subscription rewards but has never made it to level 40 kind of many times.

But it's never stuck. This time I'm going to try and make a record of my retry. So I've grabbed the expansions and some time and am seetting out once more.
My new character, Caiya Farstrider, whose name is actually an homage to some of my other MMO journeys is pictured... wherever pictures are. I found the rabbit woman with giant axe imagery too funny to resist so it's Marauder as a starting job for me (Almost wrote class, need to adopt the new terms.) though with the whole job switching thing I definitely want to level some alt jobs. Second jobs. Additional Jobs. Multi-jobs. I wonder what the terminology here is.

I've done some intro walking around Limsa and it's pretty tedious stuff. Doesn't quite throw you into the action and really holds your hand. I can see the advantage for those not familiar with MMO's but I wish I could skip some of this very basic stuff.

I'm enjoying how clean and polished everything looks and feels. It's all just a little bit off from what I'm used to and it's disorienting but I think I could come to like it. As of writing I've just passed level 4 and was looking up something on the website when I noticed this blog function.

Who knows if i'll ever return here. Maybe this will be a lonely sign post of someone who could never acclimatise to Eorzea (Had to spellcheck that one).

Here's hoping to many more records.

The beginning can be really slow sometimes and I don't wanna advertise spending too much money in ffxiv but you can purchase a story skip for ARR in the cash shop. The story does get really good with really cool battles but it takes a little while to get into it. Yes, you'll have to catch up with your class and skills but if you want to get into the action, that's the quickest way. If you really don't wanna miss the beginning story you could look up a recap. idk just a suggestion.
