A much overdue Blog entry!

Public
The Adventures of Caiya Farstrider: Absent Words are not Absent Deeds

THE LAST POST WAS WHEN?!

IT'S BEEN ALMOST A MONTH SINCE I BLOGGED?! Wow, was not expecting this gap to have been that long! A sudden outburst here from me to start with. I like to write as I play. Usually I'll open a notepad and make some comments as I play with the occasional edit or screenshot and then tidy a little and post once I'm done. I keep meaning to write specific pieces, like a list of the simple things that tripped me up when I started because of my experiences elsewhere, but I like the multitasking nature of gaming and blogging versus pure writing.

"These scrawny things weren't even a fight, why are we leading with this picture?"

So what have I done with a month of my trademarkedly sporadic playing?

Well I was levelling to Black Mage to a point where it could do some Main Quest that's done now. Warrior and White Mage are almost at 50 with mage lagging a little at 42. So far I like the gameplay of each of these. Roulettes are a little frustrating with the level sync restricting certain abilities. I'll get the hang of smashing a combo only to find suddenly I can't do the 3rd part. Perils of the levelling roulette I suppose.

"Botany is my new passion, I get to apply my warrior lessons to trees!"

Disciples of the Land and Hand. Interesting classes. I'm used to a much simpler form of gathering and crafting. On the one hand the complexity is interesting but I can think it might be a pain to gather lots of resources in this way. Either way I hit a zen streak when playing Botanist and now it's my highest level class at 51! I even got a shiny named weapon for hitting level 50. There was even a rather endearing story to go with it. The Botanist story so far has been the only one in which I really felt a lallafel wasn't out of place. Don't get me started on the Thaumaturge story... It's like a massive comedy sketch to me.

Main Story wise, well... Spoilers if your Main Story quests are below Level 38...

"What happened here?!"

"..."

Oof.
Guess this is the Act 2 slump where things start to look bad for our heroes. As predicted the little white fellow came through to help us, was he a scion? I'm not sure if that was established. I met a fellow with amnesia and a pair of goggles under his hood. Anyone walking past my window would have heard a shocked "You are CID, I AM NOT FOOLED!" exclaimed from me as soon as I saw him.
Naturally, I was vindicated. It's Final Fantasy, the guy is basically a pillar of the series. Especially with Biggs and Wedge mentioning the worlds best airship mechanic was missing.
Not going to lie, calling that felt pretty good.

Oh, and I killed Titan. Obviously before all the stuff above.

"Some Primals will be Badasses, Some Monstrous, Some will be Sexy, Some will just... be Titan"

Was kinda anticlimactic. The group I was with were not happy they were rouletted into it, I felt kinda bad for them and their long waits.
I went in as Warrior, the whole experience was about five minutes start to finish.
Still, Damage Dealers always get the short end of the stick here.
So yeah, dead Titan, yay?
Anyway I'm now exploring the Highlands, a welcome tonal shift, and trying to locate an airship. I wonder how much Story is left. The quests are Level 38 and i'm given to believe it doesn't stop at 50 so much as plateau? Don't tell me, I'll find out in time.

Random thing, I saw someone ride by on a really cool motorbike. A quick look into it and I found it to be a rather pricey premium shop exclusive. Now there's nothing wrong with selling cool and unique stuff like this in a premium shop, it's just a mount and I got one of those for free by playing the game. But this looked great and really turned my head.
At least the first time I saw it.
By the time I'd quested to the Aetherite in the highlands the count was at about a dozen of the things. Substantially less cool when everyone seems to have one.

I'm a little sad that Viera can't wear hats. A few times the siren song of Fantasia has called to me but so far I've resisted. Giant Rabbit Woman with Giant Axe was the idea at the start and so far it's served me well.

"My first photo! Wow that Viera gear is practically nightwear, I'm blushing at the memory..."

She's come along way has Caiya and soon I'll celebrate two months. Which sounds both a long time to play one game and a drop in the bucket for something like FFXIV. I quite like the current look going on with warrior though I wish the axe were perhaps a little fancier.

"It's practical and effective combat gear, perfect for an axe-swinging melee!"

So that closes out this entry. Until next time my fellow adventurers and wanderers!
