History:

Raelyn was born into one of the oldest Hyur families in Gridania that consistently produce Padjals (children gifted with power who can communicate with the Elementals), the Deepwoods. She is a distant cousin to Gatty Deepwood, a Padjali child whose parents hid her from the Conjurers Guild. In addition to her Deepwood father, her mother is of Gelmorran ancestry and a direct descendant of Jorin, the first Conjurer. Even though Raelyn is not a Padjal, the gift of being able to use white magic came naturally to her.


Etymology:

The name Raelyn is an alternate form of “Rae,” which is a feminine spelling of Ray. Ray, of course, is a shortened form of the Midlander name, Raymond. It’s origin is actually derived from the Highlander name, Raimund, which when broken down translates into “Advisor and Protector” (“ragin” = advice + “munt” = protection). A fitting name for a young woman who comes from a long line of Padjals (advisors) and White Mages (protectors).


Personality:

Raelyn is a kind and clever young lady with a cheerful disposition. Her countenance exudes warmth and compassion. Instantly a friend to all who meet her, she is often late to many an engagement because she simply can't resist greeting and smiling at the citizens she passes by on her way. Having grown up around all the various woodland creatures of the Black Shroud, she developed a deep love for all forms of life and would do anything to protect it at all costs.


Career Aspirations:

While many Adventurers choose to reject the path laid out for them in search of their own, Raelyn embraced it! Taking into account her family history and natural abilities, there was always only one path for Raelyn...the way of the Conjurer. However, given her kind and compassionate personality, she would not be content with merely being able to harness the elements. Nay, she would never settle for that! Her ultimate desire in life is to one day become a White Mage, like her mother before her, and obtain the ability to breathe life back into the fallen. To Raelyn, there is no greater power or gift given by Hydaelyn that that!
