I was talking with Esper about stories and writings, when I realized that, since my sex change did not come with a name change, I don't have any existence in FFXIV besides being an avatar. As a former writer, this bothered me quite a bit, but I was out grocery shopping when an idea hit me!
Okay, buckle up, because we taking a bumpy ride through Ember (the player's) character history.
So Fember was an Ala Mhigan monk. She abandoned her fellow monks in a skirmish against the Garleans. (Yeah, Ember is over 40, didn't you know?) One of the men, a fellow monk, was her lover, Urban. (He is also my retainer, feel free to buy my stuff!)
Before we continue, we gonna head over to Balmung, the birth of the handsome man you see before you.
Bear Barlow is the son of Beatrice Barlow, a wealthy, Gridanian merchant who shady AF, but Bear's a good kid. He doesn't know his father, other than that he was a Highlander his mother had "business dealings" with.
The Highlander father is Urban.
so here we go! Faerie and Balmung are alternate timelines!
On Balmung, Bear remained with his mother and half sister, never knowing his father.
On Faerie, Urban is left to raise and care for the boy for some yet undetermined reason. He names the boy Ember.
There we go, canon solved. Now I have some background information for the stories I won't be writing.
