The Chronicles of Father and Big Nunu
Series 3 – Chapter 2: Audience Participation (Please Stop)
The theater-curtain portal spat them out into a brand-new nightmare.
They landed on a floating platform the size of a city square. Above them stretched an endless cosmic stadium filled with glowing silhouettes of gods, ancient primals, and what looked suspiciously like a few very bored Ascians eating popcorn.
A massive scoreboard floated in the sky:
SERIES 3 – LIVE VIEWERSHIP: 12,847,392
CURRENT APPROVAL RATING: 87%
NEXT INTERFERENCE IN: 00:12
Big Nunu (eyes sparkling): “Papa… we’re on cosmic television.”
Father (already drawing his sword): “I hate every single one of these gods.”
A cheerful divine announcement echoed across the realm:
“Welcome to the Realm of Audience Participation!
Viewers may now vote to ‘improve’ the story.
Please try not to die too quickly.”
The timer hit zero.
Immediately, the first “viewer gift” dropped from the sky: a giant rubber chicken the size of a house. It landed with a deafening HONK and began chasing Father.
Father: “Why is it always me?!”
Big Nunu (already laughing): “Because you’re the straight man, Papa! The audience loves it!”
What followed was pure, unfiltered chaos.
Every thirty seconds the audience voted on a new “enhancement”:
Father’s sword temporarily turned into a giant inflatable bat.
Big Nunu was given temporary rocket boots that only worked in reverse.
A rain of glowing confetti that exploded into tiny judgmental faces.
A sudden “romantic subplot” force-field that made them stuck back-to-back for an entire minute while enemies attacked.
Father (gritting his teeth while swinging the inflatable bat): “I am going to write a strongly worded letter to the Twelve.”
Big Nunu (flying backward on rocket boots, still somehow landing perfect hammer hits): “They’re giving us free power-ups! This is the best realm ever!”
The boss of the realm finally appeared: The Producer, a sleek, clipboard-wielding entity made of pure spotlight energy. It floated above them with a smug grin.
The Producer: “Ratings are good… but they could be better. Let’s raise the stakes.”
It snapped its fingers.
Suddenly the platform began shrinking. Giant “BOO” signs appeared and started firing beams of pure negative energy. Worst of all, the audience voted to spawn Evil Alternate Versions of Father and Big Nunu — versions that were somehow even more dramatic and annoying.
Evil Nunu (striking a pose): “I am the true Sparkle Princess! You are but a pale imitation!”
Real Big Nunu (offended beyond belief): “THAT’S MY LINE, YOU DISCOUNT KNOCKOFF!”
The two Nunus immediately started fighting while Father was forced to duel his own overly serious, cape-wearing alternate self who kept monologuing about “destiny” and “the weight of fatherhood.”
Father (mid-swing): “I already live with one dramatic Nunu. I do not need a second one that talks like a bad stage play!”
The battle reached peak absurdity when the audience voted for a “sudden musical number.” The entire realm forced everyone — heroes, villains, and even the rubber chicken — into a full choreographed song-and-dance fight sequence.
Big Nunu, of course, thrived.
She turned the forced musical into a weapon, belting out the most unhinged battle ballad while smashing the Producer’s minions with her hammer in perfect rhythm. Father, against his will, ended up providing backup vocals and surprisingly good footwork.
In the climax, Big Nunu and Father locked eyes across the chaotic stage.
Big Nunu: “Together?”
Father (sighing, but smiling): “Always. Even when the entire cosmos is watching.”
They combined their power one more time. The golden crystal from the previous realm flared, and they unleashed a massive wave of pure chaotic father-daughter energy that shattered the Producer and sent every “viewer gift” flying back into the audience like cosmic boomerangs.
The scoreboard exploded into golden numbers:
FINAL RATING: 99.7% – “PEAK ENTERTAINMENT”
The Producer dissolved into glitter, muttering, “We’ll be in touch about the spin-off…”
A new portal opened — this one shaped like a giant remote control.
As they stepped toward it, Big Nunu leaned against Father’s side, still buzzing with leftover stage energy.
Big Nunu: “Papa… do you think the gods are actually rooting for us?”
Father (wrapping an arm around her shoulders): “I think the gods are rooting for chaos. And somehow… that’s us.”
He looked down at her with that familiar mix of love and mild exhaustion.
Father: “Come on, Princess. Next realm’s waiting. Try not to give them too many ideas.”
Big Nunu (grinning wide): “No promises.”
Together they stepped through the remote-shaped portal, ready for whatever fresh madness Series 3 had prepared next.
End of Chapter 2
The audience is hooked.
The gods are entertained.
And Father is already regretting answering the divine summons.
