Eighth Sun of the Fourth Umbral Moon, 7AE 1.
After squaring off against Gilgamesh and his primal in Amdapor Keep, I was called thrice by each of the Grand Companies. Primals awoke everywhere. In every corner of Eorzea, an invocation was completed; beckoned forth once more were Garuda, Titan and Ifrit.
I was still coughing up feathers from Gilgamesh's polymorphic trickery and general poor sportsmanship, but left Hildibrand to return the Treaty-Blade. Surely not even he could botch such a simple task. I then rushed off to Coerthas, and the Ixali aetheryte.
Fighting Garuda again was nostalgic in a rather disquieting way. We had both grown stronger since I last faced the Lady of Gales, but I all the moreso thanks to my magitek robe and my ceaseless need to employ my abilities as a poisoner. From her, I went to face Titan in the mines near Nym and was similarly able to best the old foe, despite his growth. Lastly, Ifrit. Like as the Lord of Crags and Lady of Gales, the Lord of Flame was felled before me.
I felt on fire today, no pun intended.
I returned to interesting news at the Rising Stones, which makes this primal activity unsettlingly clear. Lucia of the Temple Knights believes the Father of Wyrms roared. As was pointed out to the latest addition to Scion leadership, this roar is not so much a sound as a force of nature, one felt by dragons hither and yon. And if the invocations are a response to that roar, t'would make a lot of sense.
Ishgard's astrologians noticed the Dragon Star burned bright, a sign that a Roar has happened. Might not the beastmen have the same conclusion? And summoned their Gods as the Holy See called to its ancient magical wards?
I must needs investigate the Keeper of the Lake on the morrow with a detachment from Revenant's Toll. A full report will need to be made to Ishgard. And if the beastmen continue to react in fear of the Dragon horde, more Primals may be invoked in the days to come.
