Concept: New people pick gladiator as first class because swords are cool, gladiator should break into a dps job like Archanist does.
Issue: Gladiator abilities are defensive cooldowns and generate threat.
Idea: Dark Knight dps, obtains damage buff necessary to good dps at 50% hp or lower.
Execution:
Job action 1: Stance that activates 50% buff, swaps enmity generation for damage.
2: Attack that uses 20-25% of hp to get to 50% quickly, "Damage not affected by current hp".
3: Riotblade combo finished.
4: Aoe that uses high amounts of mp, possibly proc given from flash.
5: Health locking cooldown, neither gains or loses hp while up.
The health draining attack prevents them from blaming healers for healing them with medicas/succors as they lower themselves quickly. Gladiator defensive abialities allow them to survive big hits.
Issues, easy for healer to troll, bad dark knights would be the worst, and must know content ahead of time to use cooldowns.
Benefits, easy rotation means focus on said content learning with less pressure than tanking, others can tell right away if you know the job or not, Rage of Halone causes weakness in parties where there are no paladins, can be used to funnel paladins into dps work if they aren't up to par.
This is just a fun idea and I don't actually think it should be in the game, it was just fun to think about. Idea comes from dark knight in Bravely Default which follows similar rules. I look forward to Dark Knight tanks in Heavensward!
