We are <Roots>, a community established in 2024 by a small group of friends. We wanted to build a branched Community specifically catered to the needs of disabled and neurodiverse players within MMORPGs, and the celebration of LGBTQ+ and other minority groups.

You are welcome within the community spaces such as Discord, CWLS regardless of which FC you call home. Roots relies on connections and contributions, especially when it comes to resources and accessibility. Mutual aid is paramount to this community.

We take great care in making this community accessible and affirming, and hope it provides a healthy home for you!

We do our best to support and encourage our members, especially when it comes to creative pursuits or engaging in new hobbies. Nature and art (the basis of Roots) have so many healing properties and we often aren’t given a chance to embrace those things in this day and age.

We try to focus on the therapeutic aspects of the community within MMOs as a genre, especially for those who might find it hard to socialize irl.

Some people like to be involved, and some people like to hang back and do their own thing. Sometimes, people want to be involved and struggle with new environments. We try to put our energy into engaging the community and offering opportunities to integrate.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We don’t want to dwell on the suffering of our communities and instead encourage people to embrace the good things in spite of the bad things.

Not strictly SFW but not the place for seeking/sharing 18+ content.

We hope to allow disabled and ND players an opportunity to enjoy FFxiv and other games without the fear and pressure of ostracization and elitism.

Roots is hoping to become something more than a Free Company and do something that changes the lives of disabled and neurodivergent gamers, but we need to build the community first!

We don’t shame or alienate anyone for having disabilities that limit their playstyle or require accessibility tools.

✧Major changes are expressed beforehand

You can rest assured we understand if you can’t make it to a scheduled event or have to leave early due to your health. People with issues that may hinder their performance in content are not shamed or belittled, and groups are formed with the understanding that some players might have limitations.

We understand neurodivergent and mentally ill people might make mistakes in social situations. We prefer to make an effort to work with you rather than immediately vilify and ostracize. Please note that there will always be cases where someone does not fit with the community and needs to be removed for the safety of others.
