Free companies are player-run organizations which allow their members to pool resources, be it items or gil, to accomplish feats that would be difficult or impossible for a single individual.
The benefits of joining a free company include a dedicated chat channel for all members, the ability to purchase an estate to serve as the group's base of operations, and the use of free company actions that grant bonuses such as increased experience points.
No two free companies share the same goals and motivations, so be sure to choose the free company that's right for you.
Linkshells and cross-world linkshells are chat groups which allow for quick and easy communication between players who are not necessarily in a party or free company. Unlike free companies, players are able to join multiple linkshells, making it possible to join different communities dedicated to various aspects of the game.
Linkshells: allow communication with any players on the same World.Teamwork is key, so be sure to find a team with whom you're confident you can hone your skills together.

Hiya! I'm a completely new player to FFXIV, I came from ESO (player since 2018 there). Got a lot of hard modes, speed runs, and veteran difficulty achievements over there but so far I'm just on 14 as a casual player - we will see what the future holds..

Hello :) I've played FFXIV on my own from beginning to end and I've never been in a free company but I've been looking at them just to see what it's all about. I don't know much about endgame stuff or anything - I spend most of my time making new glamours and selling stuff on the markets :) this seems like a friendly place though. I feel like I might be missing out by not doing endgame stuff, treasure hunts, and whatever else there is to do. Is this a good FC for someone like me?

Hello Asher! MSQ is the best story I have seen in games, hope you liked it :) It's great to have fun together, especially now, when game is slightly less active. The most important thing is to play the way you like! If you want to try out high-end content, there are people in the FC who will be happy to join you on this journey. Yeah, I think the story is amazing. I finished it last year but because I play on my own I'm still finding new things now. I didn't know about the Manderville weapon quest until a few days ago. There's no telling how much stuff I missed on my journey so maybe I'll give this free company thing a go :)

I totally understand! Some moments in the game can be left unexplained or are just random.
