Advance Preparations

Step 1Purchase Promise Wristlets Online

Apply for the ceremony plan of your choosing by purchasing the corresponding wristlets via the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Store.

Both sweethearts will need a wristlet; however, one player may purchase both and gift one to their partner upon logging in to the game.

Step 2Receive Wristlets via Moogle Delivery

After purchase, promise wristlets may be collected from your local postmoogle or letter box upon logging in. As your wristlet will be necessary to undertake the special eternal bonding quest, make sure to store it safely.

On occasion, server congestion may lead to delivery delays.
As only one wristlet can be held at a time, those who have purchased two should gift one to their partner before collecting the second.
Caution:
  • As with any other piece of gear, a promise wristlet will cease to be tradeable if it becomes bound to you. Avoid equipping the one destined for your partner.
  • Wristlets that are not bound to you are tradeable only until you have accepted the quest "The Ties that Bind."

Step 3Accept the Special Quest

The quest "The Ties that Bind" can be accepted by speaking to Claribel while in a party with your partner, if both of you have promise wristlets equipped.

The Ties that Bind

Speak to Claribel in the Sanctum of the Twelve in the East Shroud to accept the quest.

Requirements Checklist

To undertake this quest, the following conditions must be met:

Should the type of wristlet equipped at the time of acceptance differ from that of your partner, the one associated with the less lavish plan will take precedence (Standard over Gold over Platinum).

Quest Walkthrough

The special quest "The Ties that Bind" allows those seeking an eternal bond to prove their devotion, plan the perfect ceremony, and pledge their undying affection before gods and men.

Step 1Collect Ceremony Accoutrements

Garments and other useful accoutrements can be collected from the Ceremony Outfitter in the Sanctum of the Twelve.

Under the standard and gold plans, you must have at least five open slots in your inventory to collect your accoutrements and ceremony attire. Under the platinum plan, ten open inventory slots are required.
Ceremony attire is available in both "tailcoat" and "dress" styles. One style can be traded for another via the Calamity salvager.

Step 2Preparing the Rings

Bring a flawless band to Jemime in the Goldsmiths' Guild at the Steps of Thal. Once the engraving is complete, you will receive a divine band.

Flawless bands can be purchased from Sileas at Eshtaime's Aesthetics or the marketboard, or handcrafted by goldsmiths.

Step 3Seek the Twelve's Favor

While in a two-person party with your partner, equip your promise wristlets and make pilgrimage to the marks of the Twelve to receive of Their blessings.

When your pilgrimage is complete, return to Claribel at the Sanctum of the Twelve in the East Shroud to deliver your rings.

The location of the marks you must visit next can be reviewed in the journal or by selecting the objective in the duty list.

Caution

  • Certain portions of the quest can be completed solo; however, those that must be completed together require you and your partner to both be in the target area, in a party, and wearing your promise wristlets to progress.
  • Some, but not all, portions of the quest can be completed when visiting other Worlds.
  • Characters currently undertaking this quest are not eligible for Home World transfer.
  • To use the Home World Transfer service, you must first either complete the quest, or abandon it by handing over your promise wristlet to the Sanctum acolyte. If you abandon the quest, you will need to purchase a new wristlet to start it again.
