Anna's rants: Rezzers that don't raise
Yeah, another of Annabel's bitchy rants, sorry Aria, can't help it, MUST complain! ;-)
The most annoying thing about playing a non healer is by far seeing jobs that can raise people totally IGNORING someone who has died.
I mean seriously, WTF?
WHY would you DO this? Ok, lets back up. I know WHY they do it for the most part; can we say totally absorbed in DPS numbers? I knew you could. Yeah, many are just sooooo focused on whopping the thing in front of them with their glowy stick that they totally IGNORE what is AROUND them!!!!!
Case in point. A few days ago I was foolishly doing a PF MINE UW run. (Yeah, yeah, I know, PF MINE runs. Are you INSANE you Blonde Ditz?) Anyway, the healer spots were taken so I went in as a bard. While in there, get this, the WHM dies, and I watched as he stayed dead WITHOUT a raise for NOT one, NOT, two, but THREE whole minutes before someone finally raised him!!!!
And there were both a Scholar AND a summoner who could have DONE it, they had PLENTY of MP! And nope, the mechanics were not taxing to keep them from doing it either, certainly not for THREE minutes!
And get THIS, a tank died while this was going on and they raised him, WHILE the poor WHM was STILL dead! AGGGGGH!!!!!!!
It just boggles my little White Mage loving mind! WHY would you leave someone super important dead for sooooo long, WHY? A DPS I could maybe see if things were a bit hectic, but NOT a HEALER!!!!!! You had two people who could have done it, TWO!!!!! UGH!
And this is not the first time I have seen this. It happens more times than you think. Hell, as a WHM I find myself being the ONLY one who bothers raising people when they die even in higher level stuff with MULTIPLE rezzers such as red mages and summoners, not to mention the OTHER healer. One would THINK they would help with rezzing duties when poor little me is either drained or on swiftcast cooldown when 2 or three people are dead. But NOPE, they will STAY dead while those greedy asses go into tunnelvision mode for those sweet, sweet DPS parsing numbers, leaving me to do ALL the work!
Sigh, and WHY do I play this game again?
People, people, PLEASE try and NOT focus sooooo much on the boss. STOP wearing the DPS blinders and be AWARE of things around you, ESPECIALLY if you are able to RAISE!
We little healers do try to do the heavy healing lifting, but any help we can get from you with raising duties is appreciated. And it's not even THAT taxing for you to DO so. (Red Mage, I am looking at YOU with your instant casts!)
Is consideration for others too much to ask? Sigh, don't be THAT type of gamer......
This is a big annoyance to me yus yus…. Is why I often miss being the red mage… but when I am I never get the comms despite the extra work I put in so…. *shrug*
I don't know about Red Mage, but Swiftcast is a part of a Summoner's dps rotation. Plus they probably just assumed the other healer would do it.
I don't play summoners, so don't know really what they do, but even so; if a healer is down for over a minutes with no one raising him, you think they would go, "Fine, I will DO it."
When I heal I have a 10 sec rule for raising. If multiple people can do it, I wait 10 seconds to see if anyone who is able to raise casts on someone who is dead, and if no one does it, I will do it. If it is just me and the other healer, and they can't do it for some reason, I will cast immediately .
I mean... if I'm in melee burst phase you're waiting for that rez, and if I have the mana and cd's for 3 melee cycles you're going to be waiting for a bit. But otherwise im pretty good about scraping my favorite white mage off the ground😉
OMG Wife! You care more about your DPS rotation than ME! (Cry!)
Soooo typical! She lies, Aria LOVES leaving me on the ground to suffer while the tank and her show off healing by proving they don't need any stinking healer main in the group! Grrrrrr!
Well it's not like a married you for your skill dear, but dont feel bad I'll buy you something pretty, kay😘
The dps' job is to dps. You shouldn't blame them for the other healer being a dunderhead. The only time a dps should be blamed for not resing is if both healers are dead. Dps combat raise is a privilege, not a right.
Also, as an ex-healer main, I can confirm that fights are way more fun with just one healer. Solo healing EXs back in ARR was a lot of fun and my first T11 clear I was basically solo healing the entire last phase because my co-healer kept resing into AoEs (before res immunity).
Maybe, but I would hope they would also be a 'team' player and sacrifice their rotation for the team if someone was not pulling their weight. Bitching at the other healer while doing it is allowed too if justified. LOL
I guess I am just to used to the static now where the normal plan is for DPS rezzers to do the raising if someone dies to conserve healers MP for needed healing. and big raising.
I know, I know, but their rotation! Hey, I don't make the rules, THAT's how they do it. LOL
Whenever I enter fights that I know are gonna have someone bite the dust I always eye my Swiftcast button when a particularly tricky - like the fearsome Mortal Gaze ability ... World of Darkness! Badum tss. You don't know how many times I've been the fastest healer to raise someone because I anticipated people dying to that mechanic and not only that, but the Mini Light mechanic from the Thavnair A Hunt Mark I run. It's gotten to the point that I dualcast Verraise before they hit the ground.
Sigh, Oh Mortal Gaze, it's 2022 and four expansions later, and you STILL kill loads of people! ;p
Fun Fact: Doing WOD MINE, Gaze was actually not that much of an issue. In fact, there were FAR more deaths and wipes in LOTA. WOD was actually kind of a let down MINE level; few deaths and no wipes. Sycrus Tower was by far the most fun of the 3 instances doing them MINE.; the mechanics of the bosses in that were great! Too bad no one sees them now.
Factor in passive aggressive behavior with the co-healer as well.
MANY a time I've had a WhM dps'n their little heart out, throw out a medica here and there...and do little to anything ( even a regen ). Then die expecting me to be the healer, them to be strictly a battle mage. Guess what? I'm a Battle MAGE TOO! And my STAFF IS BIGGER, and THICC..and glows :D so if they are not helpful they get to take a nap longer. Save my swiftcast for someone helpful.
Some will not raise unless swiftcast is up and that's acceptable, so you could very well be floored for 60s. Some probably need windows of opportunity to perform said raise if they want to hardcast it, so you'd probably be floored for several minutes.
Yes Vidette, I would agree with you in certain fights, it can be very hard to hard raise.
But UW Ex is NOT one of them.
Plenty of chances to plant your ass for 7 seconds and raise, especially in the early parts of the fight, which this happened.
The poor healer simply got ignored for some reason, either tunnel vision, not paying attention to the party bars, who knows? As someone who heals that fight in Unreal weekly, it just made me shake my head in disbelief.
I think sometimes the best solution is to wipe and start again. Sometimes people need to die to the mechanics, then they know how to dodge and can do their job better. I have to say that I do enjoy being the dps to save the day to rez healer, but sometime in part of my rotation, even as RDM, that I just can't rez.
It is very tempting to think if x did y, we would have cleared. But if we see wiping is part of the learning, then it is less frustrating.
Sorry to hear about this experience Anna. If someone is dead for three whole minutes and no one is ressing them its just wrong especially when you have two other classes that can raise. Consideration seems to be hard to find in some groups these days
Oh TELL me about it Bree! ;-)
Yes, consideration does seem a bit lacking at times in instances. Do I fault people? .......well, yes and no.
I mean the way this stupid game is now encourages total DPS at the sacrifice of job duty. This of course means, healers barely heal and at times totally forget about raising thanks to 'tunnel vision' DPSing.
Sigh, it is what it is. All one can hope for is a healer that remembers, Healing first, DPS second. ;Think of your PARTY members people! ;p
