I worked hard to beat Snek (Savage) so I thought I would celebrate with some good food! You know, good nutrition helps us stay healthy and alert and do more dps.
Yesterday, I skipped cooking for a day and went out to eat at a nearby cafe with my Dad. It's an American-style burger joint that sells Western food and sandwiches.
I ordered this smoked salmon sandwich which comes with a lemon mayonnaise dressing, capers and cheddar cheese. The faint lemon flavor and creamy sauce really brought out the delicate smoked flavor of the salmon. If I had one criticism, it would be that the sharp salty flavor of the cheese when combined with capers was somewhat overwhelming but overall it was really delicious!
It came with fries and a small portion of a salad served with a sweet orange-flavored dressing.
This dish cost USD $5. It's on the costlier side in my country, but smoked salmon is expensive so whatever!
Dad ordered this "nasi lemak burger".Nasi lemak
, for those of you who don't know, is rice cooked in coconut milk, giving it a creamy flavor. The name literally means "fatty rice" in Malay and Indonesian. Typically, it's served with egg (fried or hard-boiled), fried anchovies and peanuts, fresh vegetables, a serving of meat (fried chicken is popular), and a sweet spicy chili paste called "sambal". I'll show you another time!
This burger seems to have swapped the rice for burger buns and stuffed all the other ingredients inside, haha. You can't see it very well, but yes there is a fried egg in there! If you ask me, doesn't this just make it a fried chicken burger with "sambal" instead of ketchup or chili sauce? But Dad seemed to like it a lot, and said the chicken was crispy and the "sambal" not too spicy. This was USD $3.
To up my servings of veggies for the day I made a Japanese cucumber sesame oil salad when I got home. Wait, so I ended up cooking after all! (No pics... I ate it too quickly!)
Till next time!
