So... I don't mean this hateful, I am honestly asking:
Whhhyyyy does everyone use Discord?
I love it as a forum, as software, but it feels like it splits up communication in a game like this. I only have one computer screen so it's really difficult to switch between watching an in game chat and an outside one. And I've been told multiple times that the reason an in-game fc chat is quiet is because the chat happens in discord.
And that pretty much destroys the need/want of an FC for me. I can't get to know people in game if no one is chatting in game.
I raid a lot so discord is a must. During raids I have FC chat off. Sadly it’s just easier to use then keyboard in game. Plus I mostly use voice chat.
I totally get it for raids and voice chat. I'm more curious about the more relaxed FCs that use them for /just chatting/.
I think it is because Discord messages are persistent. You can leave a message for them in the morning, and they will see it in the afternoon, for example. It also allows talking with FC members out of game.
I definitely like the idea of a lively FC chat! It's exciting to log in to lots of people talking and playing. Unfortunately, I think the convenience of Discord is irresistible for many. Lol.
It sure seems that way. XD I do love it's functionality.
Discord is useful to share information while in game chat is useful for in game direct casual chat.
Obviously voice chat is another story.
You say you cannot chat in Discord while in game... While playing I have my controller in hands. While chatting in game I have a remote keyboard and for Discord I have my laptop or phone. Always switching device is painful. So while in combat I do not chat.
I did not say I can't, I said that it's difficult to watch both. I appreciate people taking the time to reply, but my question is not being answered. I will try to find a better way to word it.
