Okay, yes I have also succumbed to the Benchmark Bringforth disease that has been sweeping the Lodestone.
I meticulously kept one alt space free when I learned we would be getting Viera, but I have hit a quandry. I have too many choices and I'm not sure which way to look for my choices, and I am convinced I can make plenty more.
I am trying to make a nascent cyber/steampunk Viera machinist, one who can no longer hear the forest; so trying to avoid the hairstyles that incorporate flowers.
The first attempt had a lighter skin shade, because part of me wanted to create a more traditional blonde mage and work that into the 'punk, but it doesn't feel right to me even though there is nothing really wrong.
Then I had attempt 2(.4) which originally had longer hair and max slider ears. The best thing about the viera creation is the way hair highlights transfer to the ears ^_^
Lastly 3.0 and 3.1 the literal only difference is the tattoo colour. But I feel a bit worried about using the "cliche" hairstyle.
Perhaps I should just have waited until ShBr came out, since then I would only get one chance at this... more or less.
Please, I would appreciate the viewpoints on how to create the 'punk.
EDIT:
Please find the latest attempt below.
not sure whether I should use heterochromia options or stick with one colour.
Hey Alestrae! I am currently away from home but will be at least by my computer in a few hours. Because I’m PS4 I can’t actually access the benchmark yet for thorough advice but I can try to help a bit in terms of how a steampunk look could work! For me I think a kind of muted, cooler gold/blonde for hair contrasted against brown skin (could be lighter or darker) kind of gets direction. Eyes could either match the hue of the hair or be a vibrant red I think?
The shorter hair I think adds to the kind of spunky feeling that often goes with steampunk, imagine how it might look with goggles and like the collared suspenders look! Color-wise I personally think of brass, wood, brown leather, and generally warm tones for Steampunk so my advice involves drawing from that imagery. I think in general for a killer design since brown and gold are kind of similar there should be one contrasting accent to add a pop.
Accent should be consistent in how it’s incorporated I think. So ex. if you decided to go for a deep red accent incorporated into eyeshadow and lipstick on lighter brown skin, the red should be the same hue in eyeshadow and lipstick. I personally could also see ivory working well as an option for an accent (think like a pocketwatch face), blue would look crazy vibrant but idk if it would translate the steampunk tone as strong.
The second one with the first's skin tone.
Cenric is right, when people think 'punk' it's short hair. The long styles are all wrong for the look.
Plus the ears in the 2nd pick look more 'punkish' to me.
Some kind of tattoos are a must as well as an odd hair color mix.
Thank you both so much! Please check out the EDIT in the post above.
No guarantee I'm going to use the look in the end but it's really been helpful.
