Free companies are player-run organizations which allow their members to pool resources, be it items or gil, to accomplish feats that would be difficult or impossible for a single individual.
The benefits of joining a free company include a dedicated chat channel for all members, the ability to purchase an estate to serve as the group's base of operations, and the use of free company actions that grant bonuses such as increased experience points.
No two free companies share the same goals and motivations, so be sure to choose the free company that's right for you.
Linkshells and cross-world linkshells are chat groups which allow for quick and easy communication between players who are not necessarily in a party or free company. Unlike free companies, players are able to join multiple linkshells, making it possible to join different communities dedicated to various aspects of the game.
Linkshells: allow communication with any players on the same World.Teamwork is key, so be sure to find a team with whom you're confident you can hone your skills together.

Got into FFXIV with the expanded free trial, and joined up with the Manta's shortly after subscribing to the game in proper. Right from the start everyone was welcoming, and always eager to help a new player get deeper into everything the game has to offer. The FC has a large group of players who are active at all levels so there's almost always groups forming up to run something. Throw in one of the nicest FC houses you'll find, and I think we have everything you'd hope for in an FC.

I've been a part of the Manta for almost a year now, and I've had a fantastic time. You really get a sense of community, with both small and large groups there for whatever kind of interaction you prefer. If you need help with something and put a shout out in either the discord or in-game FC chat, it usually isn't long before someone either offers to help or directs you to something better, and frequent FC events mean that there are learning parties all the time. So join us! There's a lot to do!

I remember it like it was yesterday, back in the olden days of 2019 when I was kidnapped by a giant Roe named Sturdy Styrmbraggen who came up to me and went "Hey kid, you want some Ahoy!?" Everyday since has been a crazy adventure of Ahoy this and that, joining events, raiding things, glamor contests, taunting the leadership, sassy potatoes, a good time all around. Would get kidnapped again 10/10.

After glancing at some discords of folks selling clears for things (lol) , just wanted to point out that we do weekly events, including Alexander Savage Mount/Glam Farms, Omegascape Mount/Glam Farms, Extreme and Unreal Primals, and we have multiple raid groups running current and older raid content, including UCOB, UWU, & TEA. While I can't promise everyone who joins that they can jump in a FC Sponsored Raid group, we strive to create as much opportunity as your skill level can match :).
