Free companies are player-run organizations which allow their members to pool resources, be it items or gil, to accomplish feats that would be difficult or impossible for a single individual.
The benefits of joining a free company include a dedicated chat channel for all members, the ability to purchase an estate to serve as the group's base of operations, and the use of free company actions that grant bonuses such as increased experience points.
No two free companies share the same goals and motivations, so be sure to choose the free company that's right for you.
Linkshells and cross-world linkshells are chat groups which allow for quick and easy communication between players who are not necessarily in a party or free company. Unlike free companies, players are able to join multiple linkshells, making it possible to join different communities dedicated to various aspects of the game.
Linkshells: allow communication with any players on the same World.Teamwork is key, so be sure to find a team with whom you're confident you can hone your skills together.

I'm a tolerant, open minded person and will never judge or discriminate. I like to tell jokes and make people laugh, after all, without humor the world is a very depressing place. I've got years of experience running Free Companies and Guilds in other games. No worries! Life has been pretty busy for me too. I'm mostly looking for a community that has active members. Not necessarily all the time, but in general having more than one or two active members at a time, as well an FC that is okay with someone who is pretty casual in this game. I'm not striving to be the best at things, just looking for a bigger community to enjoy them with!

The majority of the time there are more than 2 or 3 active players with the exception of the early to mid morning pacific time, in which it can be a little quiet but things generally get more active as the day goes on and usually by evening we have anywhere from 7-10 people on including myself. Still actively recruiting so hoping to get the current number of active users on at once a little higher than that. Most of us are casual players so it sounds like you would fit in.

It does sound like I'd enjoy it! I'm in central time but on the weekends I tend to be on well into the evening when I can get on.
