For those of us that have an aversion to pressing buttons too much, the macro I used extends out how long the macro runs for. Usually so I can be tabbed away for a 30 seconds or so and hopefully come back to a catch. With sub-par Gathering, it took me 51 minutesto get all 40 required fishies, from the time I googled this page to see where it was until I posted this. The macro can be manual restarted mid-cycle without any issues if you catch one early and want to save yourself 4-5 seconds of wasted time.

I just kept everything identical from platinum seahorse and it worked great. No need for patience.

One slight tweek. Use the regular cast when using identical cast.

I found the comments a bit confusing/misleading for this one. Definitely DO NOT use the 4 second advice, it wastes SO much time. I probably casted 75 times and didn't catch a single mirror image. The tactic I used was:

Turn on your collector's glove. Then, manually cast Prize Catch (I had issues trying to macro-cast it if it was already up). Then use the following macro repeatedly until you get a catch:

Once you get a catch (Mirror image is a ! fish), confirm that it is mirror image (it always was for me), and do identical cast + prize catch to get a second mirror image.

Use Thaliak's favor and/or hi-cordials to replenish your GP as needed. If you don't have enough GP for your prize catch + identical combo and are on cooldown for both, sit on the confirmation screen to replenish GP until you have enough.

This was much less frustrating for me than waiting for 40 full catches or trying shorter timers. No need for patience II!

Il Mheg (X3.6, Y21.3), Select Bait. I used a macro for most of it. When I caught a Mirror Image I used Identical Cast and Prize Catch manually. I didn't time how long it took me, but it wasn't very long. You can wait to accept the collectable until your GP is built up enough to use Identical Cast, or you can use a cordial/Thaliak's Favor to boost GP.

Just do that 40 times and you're done. Make sure the fish is 21 quality

I've been trying everything for an hour and have only fished it once!

Easy method that took me less than an hour with only Mirror Images caught.

All that's needed is Prize Catch and the occasional use of Identical Cast when you have overflowing GP. Hi-Cordials too if you want to speed up the process.

The best success I had was the following;

Rod: Augmented Splendorous Fishing Rod
Bait: Select Bait Ball

Prize Catch
Cast
Wait no more than 4 seconds
If bite then
Hook
If no bite at 4 seconds then
Hook (retaining both Prize Catch + Bait)

Rinse and repeat. It took me less than 48 bait on this method using mostly Theliak's Favor at 3 points to recoop my CP for the next Prize Catch. Just Hook on anything past 4 seconds, because 5 seconds is Grey Skipper and 8 seconds is Pixie Fish, so you would waste time + Prized Catch + Bait if you go past 4 seconds.

Took me less than an hour using this method because I saved time when I pulled the Hook at 4 seconds and recast.

When you hook a Mirror Image, use identical cast and continue the macro.

It'll take a little while, but I only caught mirror images and saved my bait and my cordials.

This guy so elusive it's better to use Prize Catch than patience as others said.

I had more luck by using prize catch instead of patience.

So the overall procedure changes to Cast -> wait 7 sec -> Hook and occasional manual casts of prize catch and Thaliak's Favor.

You can Save Bait if you only Snag the weak bites that bite within the 1st 4 seconds. The quick bites are usually the mirror images. IF takes longer, then just reel in and recast.

What I did:
My Method took ~1.5h, <100 bait, and <30 Hi-Cordials.

Step 1:
Patience II> Catch everything to build stacks of Angler's Art.
Didn't worry about using Identical Cast (IC) here. Just stacking Resouces. Could use a Versatile Lure if you're looking to save script bait. Caught on average 1 Mirror during this phase.

Step 2:
PC>Cast With Macro
My macro had a 7 second timer. If I didn't get a bite, I reset to save my bate and PC buff.
Use Hi-Cordials and Thaliak's Favor as needed to keep PC on and IC Sucessful catches.

Step 3:
Repeat step 2 until out of resouces. (Typically 3 rounds for me)
Out of resources, repeat step 1 (Only once, aiming for 8 stacks.)
Return to step 2

Alternated with Ocean Fishing for scripts.
