Character

Fade Krooger hails from one of the larger islands off the coast of Costa Del Sol. His father was killed at Carteneau, and with it any money they had. Fade spent most of his days stealing food from the large market on the island by shooting fish out of merchants hands with an arrow and sending them into hand picked trees in the thick jungle that makes up the centre mass of the island. One day, Fade met a man standing next to one of his trees.

"Nice shooting" the man said. Fade did not reply.
"I've been watching you for years Fade. I know more about your little stunts than most. I know about your visions."
"What do you want?" Fade asked.
"You" said the man "And your talent with a bow. I'm not sure how much you know about the Realms, but what I can tell you is that they're bleeding, besieged by enemies on all sides, not to mention the fallout from The Calamity. I come from a land called Gridania, it's a lush forest much North of your island. We take promising young students of Archery and teach them the ways of the bow. Fade, I too dream of stars, and I have seen you in those dreams, you are destined to become great."
"Great? Being great leads to attention, attention leads to conflict, conflict leads to violence, and violence leads to death." The creed his mother had taught him. She taught him how to blend in, how to be a ghost, even named him Fade as a reminder.
"Perhaps" replied the man "but it can also inspire, rally others under a common good, provide a role model for future generations, and most important, it can give people hope, and it's been many a year since our citizens have had any."
"Fade, I can't promise you won't become famous, in fact that's quite likely to happen, what I can promise is never having to steal for your meals, medicine for your mother, the freedom of the adventuring lifestyle, and a chance to see the world beyond these four walls of ocean.
