I don't know if the drop rate has changed or if I just got lucky. 75 kills, 25 drops. 50 cans total, mostly in batches of 2s and 3s. Took about 30 minutes.

Sefette Solainteau Cactuar [Aether]

I was several times farming Wooly Yaks. Every times I had the exact same case: I got nothing until the 8th or 9th kill. From there, I got 1 or 2 cans of milk every 2 kills.

It's like it unlocks after first drop. So be patient.

Remark:
There are lot of yaks in the zone. You can either track them all, or check how many you need until 1st one killed has respawn and stay with that group for shorter rounds. Personally, I had a higher drop rate with the first option.

Some peeps seem really lucky.
I myself got like 5 cans after killing 60 of them, so... yeah.. Maybe i'm just very unlucky ^^

The farm isnt that bad. If you are bored and low in gil, farm them. Drop 3~2 cans every 2~3 kills

Hermilion Havoc Exodus [Primal]

Not sure what all the fuss is about, each yak drops 2-3 which is enough for you if you are just looking for daily craft materials for your grand company. Unless you plan on crafting a ton of food items with this as an ingredient, farming this should be fairly simple for a small craft job.

x15 y15 has three Yaks. I got 7 cans, 3 from one and 2 from the others.

As previously stated, the drop rate is insanely low. If you got the GIL, you really are better off sending a friend to the NPC and buying it on your behalf if you don't have the area unlocked. This is what I did.

Princess Donut Adamantoise [Aether]

It is indeed surprising the inability of these creatures to provide lactose for their young, yet I have killed thousands upon thousands for a mere few bucketfuls of this rare commodity and yet they keep re-appearing. Surprisingly almost as the sheer number of beasts that thrive in Eorzea without their skins or hides to protect them from the elements. No wonder they are so angry and attack all who dare approach!

Ptooey Toothless Leviathan [Primal]

I don't think it's a 10% drop as previous commenter mentioned. Took me about 10-15 mins to get everything I needed for my levequest and most of that time was spent flying around looking for yaks. Not the most ideal farm, but it's better than spending buckets of gil if you're short on funds or trying to save up. I found I got a drop about 30-40% of the time, and it was anywhere from 1-3 cans of yak milk.

Luka Rhysara Mateus [Crystal]

I had no trouble farming the wooly yaks in Coerthas Western Highlands. There are a lot in the area. It'll be easier to get to each smaller pack if you have flying, but it's not required. I get the drop every few kills.

Nuggie Gremlin Hyperion [Primal]

Or you could send your retainer to hunt it for you and do something else. Its level 51 I believe and 5 pieces an hour passively seems like a good trade to me.

Moedred Pendragon Spriggan [Chaos]

With a drop rate well under 10% and a far-apart populace, farming this from Wooly Yaks is quite the pain. Yet the sole selling NPC is in a Shadowbringers city. Best of luck, Culinarian class quester.
