Red Mage rotation macro

Red mage is nice and fancy, but the rotation gets very complicated when all the procs start happening.
What do you click next? Why are there more buttons to press? Is there a correct order to click them? The job has suddenly become twice as confusing as it already was!

So, until they realize the need for some serious QoL improvements to remove the button bloat and streamline the rotation, here is a simple macro to do the basic stuff, so you can dps worry-free:

Remember to press the button again when the first run completes.
It's a good idea to press it again if you move too, just in case it interrupts a spell.

When the devs learn that you can't make a job for the "special" target audience in the playerbase and simultaneously complicate it any more than level 1 Archer rotation?

Using macros is a huge DPS loss... needing to interweave OGCDS etc. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone... better to practice and get used to identifying the procs and reacting to them.

The insane button bloat with no coherent playstyle just for the sake of overcomplexificalasation never made sense to me, but I still have always loved the concept of the Red Mage.

Black Mana? White Mana? Maybe they tried to imply that the MMO genre can transcend racial stereotypes by always having you keep the balance between the two?

And the normal Mana might be an attempt to encourage critical thinking?

Because clearly "it is neither black nor white", maybe the red color is a symbol for all the needless bloodshed of our history?

I love the class personally. Yeah at times it would be nice to focus more on the fights and just spam out of pure memory, however I find the style and flash so rewarding.

Red Mage is one of the easiest jobs to play. If you need macros to play it then I have bad news.

There are ways to reduce "button bloat" using macros, but due to how /waits work, doing it like that would be a huge dps loss.

I wouldn't call it "bad news". Adding a job aimed at people with mental deficits is a good move by the devs, as it recognizes diversity and prevents potential discriminatory behaviours.
What does not match this move is overcomplicating the job: actions becoming available as procs, replacing or giving a significant advantage over the standard 2-button rotation may have been acceptable to implement for any other (mainstream) job but not one that is geared towards lifting the burden of disability.

Red Mage wasn't added for people with disabilities, it was added because it was requested and one of the fan favorite jobs from previous FF titles. It's a simple job to play, along with samurai, just because it's simple doesn't mean it's for people with disabilities.

Red Mage is the mixture of black mana from a black mage, and white mana from a white mage. They worked together to create the job we all know and love, the Red Mage.

Red mage should never use macros. Not even for rez. The procs are so random that following a macro will result in massive dps loss. Honestly. You can pass decent dps by keeping the mana balanced. To play it well, you fish for procs. If you have before proc'd and impact uo, cast impact then veraero.and vice versa.

fascinating how you're implying the creation of a bad macro and I Think you are trying to be funny but it's kind of in poor taste.

It is almost as if you do not think other jobs are as easy.... example being perhaps...dark knight or white mage or bard... summoner... ninja... sam..... etc

Yes, RDM was an old and requested FF job, but why downplay the devs’ efforts in molding its gameplay to fit the most sensitive portion of the playerbase? It’s both evident if you’ve played it any longer than 20min at 70 and in line with the promise to “bring up the bottom”. It works well as such, too: players that might have been excluded otherwise, can now clear content -including Savage- using Red Mage. It’s an accessibility milestone for the disabled and, as such, a commendable approach.

That said, it still needs improvement, like reducing the rotation to 1 button (see melee pvp combos), and that’s where macros like these come in: although not perfect (waits etc), they let the RDM player perform to an average level no matter how handicapped. Given their conceivable condition, it’s more important to make the RDM users feel involved and useful than push them to perform to an elitist standard (they might have picked another job if they could manage that in the first place).

right... well, idk what red mage you're playing with but I do some particularly great dps having 3/5 abilities hit 18k+ within less then 6 seconds(often, as it is not an exact and is influenced by some buffs at times). I can also quick heal to help healers, quick res which saves the healers mana, buff melee dps as well as my own.

No its not the best dps job in the world. Neither is Bard, however both bring something to the table that other dps will not.

Also, where i would live to see a rotation designed button like red mage has for pvp on its melee, it would not work well with red mage' spells. VerStone and VerFire are only available on chance and replace jolt/2/impact on main cast abilities due to cast timers.

Also the spells need to be changed around to balance the mana gauge of black and white to enchant said melee abilities. w/o enchantment, you can not use VerHoly nor VerFlare. Very different play between pvp and pve.

Dualcast has been a staple of Red Mage long before they were introduced into XIV. It has nothing to do with SE trying to make a job accessible to the physically disabled.

SE saying they were trying bring up the buttom was a blanket phrase for all players not just those with disabilities. And again it was blanket across all jobs not about one specifically.

I don't know if you've attempted savage or not, but I can assure you, if you're using a macro for your melee combo, spell rotation, etc etc, you will only be detrimental to the group. The dps check on v3 and 4 is extremely tight. You will waste roughly a minute or two throughout the whole fight with wait commends alone. Honestly, as a red mage main, the job is not hard to play. Most, if not all of your main commands can be put on one hotbar.

not sure why people are always so negative about macros. If it helps a person get use to a class it's better than not having. I'm completely new to Red Mage. Just now starting to use and.. I don't even know where to start with it.. So yeah Thank You for taking the time to make and SHARE a macro for RDM "DPS loss" or not still helps me out.
