Earlier, someone posted a link to a chrome extension to help make the Lodestone look better for displaying blog entries, and I was asking, why would you need that?
Well, THIS is why.
English lodestone: Average amount of posts in a 24 hour period: 20
Japanese lodestone: Average amount of posts in a 20 MINUTE period: 22!
That means there could be over a hundred posts a HOUR there at some given times, which means over a THOUSAND posts a DAY! No WONDER the guy made that extension, Good LORD!
Meanwhile, we on the other side of the pond putter along at about 20-30 a DAY, though it can go both above and BELOW that in a 24 hour span.
Um....yeah, we DON'T really care about the thing, do we?
No WONDER you sometimes see Japanese only posts here, they just want to be SEEN by people! They probably just get swallowed up over there! :p
And then there are the HUNDREDS of likes the top posts have, but we won't go there! LOL
I suppose lodestone is more popular in Japan/Asia because blogging is more ingrained in their culture.
Plus in the west, we mainly use Facebook/Twitter/Reddit to post all our gibberish.
I mean lodestone doesn't have an edit button, it's missing so many features which the aforementioned social platforms have, like infinite scroll, filter posts etc etc...
If anything, lodestone does feel a bit ancient...
Oh GOD yes! You don't know HOW much I wish for a edit button for the comments, especially since I am a TERRIBLE speller. ;p
I am sure this whole Lodestone thing was just an afterthought. It rarely gets any serious updates.
It is the reason I like it! Look old school (2000-ish) blog. I never liked the social media much due to the over-abondance (not sure the term is correct in English) of useless (for me) posts.
This place is a peaceful nice place to be waiting to go home to connect to the game ;)
Haha you're totally right it feels so retro! I like that it's a small community though. I get shy when I know my voice will be lost in the crowd.
It does feel retro but I like it. And the smaller community to be honest. You get to know people more easily on here than in a sea of tumblr and twitter posts
