Physical Discription:
Ambrul is short for a Miqo'te, standing at a height of 1.8 yalms. She has light skin, dark orchid eyes, and pepper-like freckles. Dying and changing her hair is the norm for Ambrul, but its natural colour is white like the moon. In terms of makeup, she usually only really touches up her lips to have it match her current hair colouring, and she always paints the tribal markings of the Keepers of the Moon on her cheeks that resemble whiskers. She has a small scar just under her left jaw due to a slight hunting accident when she was a kid, but it wasn't anything major and it's barely noticeable.
Background:
Born in Gyr Abania to the Red Mage Ehnall Uhvih. When Ambrul was six years old she was forced to flee Gyr Abania during the invasion of the Garlean Empire. Her mother had lead her to an ever so cramped and small hole in the wall. She gave Ambrul her Soul Crystal, hugged her child goodbye, and whispered, "always keep that close to your heart." Ambrul now in tears crawled through the hole for what felt like hours before finally reaching the other side, where she found herself in South Shroud.
Covered in tears and dust, she stumbled around until she was found by a local hunter by the name of Meroh'a Beji, who took the young and confused child into his care. Originally not the best father in the world, Meroh'a worked hard to be both a father and a mentor to the young Ambrul and trained her with the skills needed to hunt and skin her prey. At times he came off as cold, and when he found her clutching a Soul Crystal in her hand one day he demanded where she found such a thing. She spat at him and shouted, frustrated and missing her mother which roused a horrible anger from Meroh'a. As he was about to tear the crystal from her grasp, Ambrul shouted out, "no don't! It's my mother's!" And with that, he stopped his assault in an instant. He offered his hand out to the child with a warm expression on his face; not quite a smile, but not a frown either and he asked, "can I see it?" Ambrul was hesitant at first, but eventually she reluctantly complied and Meroh'a walked off with the stone. Ambrul went to her room in tears, thinking she had lost the one thing she had left of her mother. But a short while later there was a knock on her door, and Meroh'a entered with the stone in hand, with an intricately tied string bound around it to keep it secure. He took a step forward and wrapped the pendant around Ambrul's neck and tucked it into her shirt then gave her a tight hug. "Remember, sweetheart," he whispered to her softly, "always keep that stone close to your heart." And so, ever since she did just that.
The years since, Meroh'a was far less cruel towards Ambrul. While he was still strict, he also showed her a fatherly love and the warmth she desperately needed from a parent. But a day of change came when Ambrul was ten years old. An Arcanist by the name of E'xaamni Tabo came to Gridania to investigate a local oddity that was occurring with the Aether and people were once again in fear that the Primal Ramuh was being summoned. When Meroh'a and Ambrul saw E'xaamni they both stared for a long while. Ambrul because of the way the Arcanist held herself. So dignified and brave, with a tome in hand and a carbuncle wrapped around her neck. Meroh'a had a... different reason for staring longingly at the woman. Meroh'a volunteered to help E'xaamni with her task and Ambrul was left with one of Meroh'a's sisters until he returned. After a week the two returned, clearly smitten with one another and in truth, Ambrul couldn't have been happier with this outcome.
The curious little Ambrul asked numerous questions about Aether, Arcanists, the carbuncle around E'xaamni's neck, how one learns such a magic, and so much more. She learned about Aetherial Travel, the Elements, and Ambrul slowly learned the ways of the Arcanist through her new mother (though she would never take the place of the original), and while Ambrul learned about the world of magic, E'xaamni learned about to adapt to the difference in cultures between Seekers of the Sun and Keepers of the Moon. With Ambrul's lust for knowledge, E'xaamni gave Ambrul the nickname, Sun-Chaser.
By the time Ambrul was sixteen, she had a three year old sister named Vihmi Meroh. E'xaamni, now seeing Ambrul as old enough, asked her if she would be willing to properly learn to be an Arcanist, as there is only so much she is able to teach the young child. Ambrul lit up and nodded excitedly, and in the following day E'xaamni brought Ambrul to Limsa Lominsa. E'xaamni did the courtesy of introducing her to Thubygeim Guldweitzwyn who agreed to take Ambrul in as an apprentice. Over the following years, Ambrul learned to summon her own Emerald Carbuncle, a Topaz Carbuncle, and even a Ruby Carbuncle. She dedicated her life to researching Aether and the various forms and uses it has. She became an Aetherchemist, an Aetherologist, and an archaeologist. She visited her family often, and over the years began hearing a familiar voice in her head. Whispers of an age long past, thanks to her mother's Soul Crystal.
Currently she is working on creating a sword that can harness the power of her own Aether, as directed by her mother to keep herself from losing control of the far more volatile magics of the Red Mage before she begins properly practicing such a path.
