I like Eureka because it seems like a low stress way to get back into figuring out how to play the game again. Since I've been back, I've mostly been doing Eureka and some of MSQ with my main War and leveling BLM/BRD with beast tribes/squad missions. Just found the new snake people beast tribe yesterday.
It took a little over a week to get to level 20 in Eureka. The challenge log helped the most. Of course, I get to 19 the day after HoH, logon and see 10 people playing, scary.
I've been in the Paz fight five times that count (level 19/20) over the past 2 days (HoH came out two days ago).
First day was dead most of the day but got hopping later, got in a group and got 3 feathers. Yeah, HoH didn't kill Eureka after all. Logged on later and was going to just grab a quick fate for some crystals but paz was up. Didn't join a group and got silver (awarded 2 feathers instead of 3). Many thanks to the healer who threw a couple my way. It wasn't a bad fight but throws the feather count off.
Second day was cursed. Starts with a wipe on Numbers. I've never seen a fail in Eureka before. Later, got in a group, we had no healer so I switched to heals. I haven't played healer in a group since ARR so I'm mostly lost, trying to figure out the spells again. Then Paz comes up. We got two more healers before the fight started but I spent most of that fight dead. Couldn't get the dodge and heal right and that rez spell takes too long.
Logon again later and get another prep/paz. I thought we were doing good. Down to where the adds pop and I jumped on one of the adds. Finally get the adds down and notice people are bailing. Get back to Paz and he's back at full health. Ugh. Everyone is running for the hills. Someone said there were only 37 people on the instance. First paz failure.
Ok, no big deal. Have 8 feathers. Do my log on once more before bed and paz is up. Don't bother for a group since I'll be in and out (getting close to bedtime if he hadn't popped right after killing the shadows I would have quit for the day anyway). Thought I was doing good for the fight - dodging more of the mechanics. But, I took on one of the adds, with no heals died and spent a good bit of the fight dead. Got my first bronze and no feathers.
Have 8 feathers now but the mendacity weapons are probably better anyway. The gear situation was already too confusing in this game from before and now the choices are even more crazy. Yeah, more internet searches just to figure out how to play.
Lessons learned: don't solo paz. If you do, don't go after adds. There is a bronze and it only gives exp - no other rewards.
Another day, I remember liking RDM a lot maybe I should switch....
