My story in Eorzea began on a normal day in August 2024. FF XIV was randomly suggested to me on Steam. So I thought to myself, “I'll check that out.”
My first character in the free trial was a Miqote named Zoe Xhoula. It was a randomly suggested name, because what did I know back then? The first job I chose was the arcanist. I thought, “Oh, how cool, they can cast spells, heal, and attack.” And then I stood there with a book in my hand that I had to use to kill ladybugs. I have to admit, I found that pretty weird. But the game was so beautiful. I had no idea about main quests, side quests, or job quests, but that didn't matter.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 4-week free trial and got to know the game a little. Then those four weeks were over and I was told I had to buy the game and pay a monthly server rental fee. I thought to myself, “No way, I'm definitely not doing that. I'm not going to pay monthly for a game I've already bought.”
But by that point, I was already addicted to FF XIV. I thought about it for a while, wondering if I really wanted to get involved in something like this. Then I thought to myself, you can always quit at any time. And at the beginning of November, I bought the game and agreed to the monthly server rental fee. And here I am now.
