This quest is still bugged three years after it was bugged for me. I had to help my husband figure it out tonight for his character. Quest didn't appear in gold saucer until logging out/in, going back and forth between NPC locations didn't trigger it popping up.

Like others, I had this same problem. I had done EVERY quest you all said needed to be done. I even retired 2 chocobos at this point, one rank 50 and one rank 40 of different genders. Standing in front of her, I finally was frustrated enough and sent a support ticket in. I could see the quest on my mini map but it wasn't appearing over her head and talking to her just gave me the normal garbage.

After doing everything I could find that people suggested on the internet, I put in a support ticket. Then for some reason I got the idea of logging out and back in. As soon as I logged back in, in front of me she stood with the blue quest icon over her head.

Of course now I had a support ticket in for this but at least I knew how to fix it and tell others how to!

LOG OUT -> LOG BACK IN

I don't want you to suffer like I did! This was hell!

Sigh... Reached Rank 40. The Quest didn't appear at Chocobo Square. Went to Bentbranch, quest wasn't there. Went back to Chocobo Square and the Quest finally appeared.

In short: When you finally reach Rank 40, the Quest may not appear immediately. Leave Area then come back.
Or do one more Race for it to appear.
Probably easier with the prior.

website is wrong. to get this quest, not only do u have to unlock racing. but you also need to do the quest to raise a bird. i had to to do "bird in hand" then it showed up

BTW you have to race ur bird, get to rank 40+. ( the level of the bird, not the rating)

you may need to do all the quest for your bird as well. i have no way to test this as i only had bird in hand to finish... your all welcome... this is odd its not listed...
