Ditzy Anna here with another silly guide. This one is for those that would like to mix various dances into a macro routine to have some variety in their moves.
To do this you need to first put the dance you want, then however many seconds you want to have it going before switching. Here is an example of a dance macro.
/dance motion <wait. 3>
/mogdance motion <wait. 15>
/edance motion <wait. 12>
/gdance motion <wait. 12>
/tdance motion <wait. 16>
/flamedance motion <wait. 24>
/dance motion <wait. 4>
/petals motion <wait. 4>
/dote motion <wait. 4>
/beesknees motion <wait.10>
/dance motion <wait. 3>
/songbird motion <wait.10>
/micon "dance" emote
Now we'll break it down some.
(/dance) is the dance you have chosen to do. As you see from the other lines; there is /mogdance, /edance, /tdance, and others. You can also have emotes there instead of dances such as /dote and /petals for various effects and breaks in dancing.
(motion) is put there so you don't spam the chat box with what you are doing. You really DON'T want to be announcing your moves every time you are changing something when running your macro. (motion) stops that from happening, so put it IN there! ;-)
(<wait.1>) is what determines how long the dance or emote is going to run. The number value is in seconds only; you CANNOT put any kind of decimal to make it shorter like 2.5 sec, only integers like 2,3,7,10, etc. As you will find out, this REALLY sucks because of the timing of the dances.
(/micon "dance" emote) This just creates an icon of your macro for easy reference in your list. You can add any of the emote names here and a icon of that emote will appear.....sometimes. Note: it does NOT work with every one of them. (Little Ladies Fan dance, I am looking at YOU!) It also is usually put on the last line of the macro.
Also, only 15 lines total for your macro. So it's usually 14 actions with the 15th being the icon.
Here is a video of the macro above running.
As you see, it starts with a simple Hyur dance for 3 sec, then flows into the Moogle dance for a full cycle of 15 sec. It then transitions into the Eastern dance for 12 sec, then the Gold dance for 12 sec, then the Thandrain dance for a full cycle of 16 sec. The full Flame dance is next for 24 sec before coming back to the Hyur dance for 4 sec. The 4 sec allows a good transition into throwing petals and a kiss each with a timing of 4 seconds before going right into a Bees knees dance for 10 sec. For a final change, one more Hyur dance for 3 sec is thrown in to transition into a Songbird dance.
Here is an example of another dance using the method. I have the macro showing in the video so you can see the script.
The timing for the transitions are pretty much trial and error. You will need to make a pseudo macro to adjust the timings of the two dances you are trying to change from one to the other and adjust the seconds as necessary until it looks good to you. Then you cut and paste it into the routine macro.
As I said above, some transitions will NEVER look good using a macro because integers will not allow the timing needed for proper flowing. Some dances require precise timing such as 8.7 seconds to sync properly. The ONLY way to get around this, use the dances you want to sync and have your routine look good, is to manually click the icons on the fly. That way you have total control of the routine. It is also tiring to do this since you have to be on the ball and perfect in your execution or it looks weird.
Honestly, it's not THAT hard to do with practice. You learn the visual cues to hit the button at the right time. Just gotta PAY attention. ;-)
So there you go, a way to mix up stuff instead of doing the same boring 1 dance over and over.
Sigh, it's a real shame you can't truly do pieces of dances and make them into a full fancy routine. Think, Star Wars Galaxies actually DID this with their Dancer class back in 2003. You were able to make full dance routines complete with lighting and special effects with a legion of dance moves from different dance formats. (think ballroom, hip-hop, jive, modern, etc. ), all in huge elaborate macros. On TOP of that, you could sync up with the Musician class and dance to their music performance macros. Yeah, there were some elaborate troupes back in the day.
Of course this will NEVER happen in FF14 with the Bard performance stuff. But one can dream. LOL
