On The Golden Road To Fenrir

Public
When Gold Saucer came out, we were shown the Fenrir mount and all of it's glory. I was captivated with it's design. Sleek, powerful, and majestic. I was happy that SE give us the chance to be able to have this mount.

But my hopes to obtain it were dashed when I discovered that you needed to win an astonishing 1 million MGP to get it. For a while, I had given up, but recently, a few of my friends have gotten Fenrir and now with it's new ability to fly, my desire to get it has been renewed.

And thus, the long grind began...

I started by researching quick ways to drum up MGP. I found that the old method used to be with farming the "Indolent Imperial" in Mor Dhona since you could win 90 MGP from him with ease. Some people claimed that Chocobo Races were good while others said the Verminion tournaments were a good source as well. Of course, with a combination of the Triple Triad tournaments, the daily mini cactpot and weekly jumbo cactpot, you could still rack up a decent amount. But it still was not enough. I needed more and I was greedy.

While I checked Chocobo Square, I found the Out On A Limb minigame. I played it and easily win 400 MGP. Then again...and again. I realized that within the span of 20 or so minutes (while doing a GATE in between) I had made roughly almost 10k MGP. I quickly got hooked onto the game and before I knew it, I had already almost made my first 100k.

For those of you who don't know: Out On A Limb is a new minigame that was introduced that you find in Chocobo Square (2nd floor of the Saucer). You pay only 1 MGP to play and each time you win by "hitting the sweet spot", you're given the option to "double down" and increase your MGP reward with however much time you have left on the clock. It goes:
50>100>150>400>500>600
You are only able to double down 5 times. 600 MGP is the maximum you are able to win. There are 3 difficulties, Cactar (easiest), Malboro (medium), and Titan (hardest). The MGP reward difference isn't that big for the difficulties so I just stick to Cactar. The above rewards is what you get for playing on the easiest difficulty.

I started with 68k and I've already hit 535k with a combination of playing this addictive minigame, GATES, and the daily mini cactpot in just a few days. Obtaining Fenrir doesn't seem so much like a pipedream to me now.
Although, I won't lie, it took a WHOLE lot of time and dedication to get this far, I intend to see it through to the end. Farming the minigame does seem tedious, but I do enjoy it with music.

So for those of you who still want Fenrir, don't give up. The grind will be long but in the end, the sense of accomplishment will make you feel like you really earned it.

535,000 down, 465,000 left to go.
Wish me luck!
And good luck on your own grinds!

Out on a Limb does help a lot, but I'm still hoping to win the Cackpot.

Take comfort in the knowledge you'll get yours before I get mine.

Don't forget the challenge log entries.

I think you get 62500 from the log if you complete all entries. A lot of them are simple and can be competed fairly quickly. I'm sure you've already completed some just from the activities you are doing. The two cards related entries can be done at the same time by playing NPC in Card Square, the dealer to the left of the entrance as you enter the area. He's really easy.
