The user interface, or UI for short, refers to the various on-screen elements and menus through which a player interacts with the game. The UI in FFXIV can be adjusted in myriad ways to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.

Communication / Chat
The chat bubble feature displays certain messages above respective characters' heads in-game. To enable the feature, select System from the main menu and select Character Configuration, then select the Log Window Settings tab from the column on the left. Under General, select Chat Bubble Settings and check the "Enable chat bubbles" box.
Chat bubble settings can also be adjusted for specific chat modes, with options to individually change text and background color.
