Repair  [NEW]  [Updated]

Gear Durability  [NEW]  [Updated]

Defeating enemies and being KO'd will reduce the durability of your weapons and equipment.

To repair your items and restore their durability, speak to a mender, marked with a hammer icon on your map.

If durability reaches zero, that item will no longer increase your stats, so be sure to keep your equipment in good condition.

It is also possible to repair your own equipment if your Repair Level is high enough for the corresponding Disciple of the Hand class and you possess the required materials.

You can repair your equipment in almost any location, which is one of the many reasons to level up your Disciple of the Hand classes.

Checking Durability
The blue or green bar next to each item shown on the Character screen and item help window indicates its durability.

The item help window also shows a second bar, which indicates spiritbond.

When Durability Reaches Zero  [NEW]  [Updated]

Equipment that reaches zero durability will not grant your character any benefits, such as stat increases, whatsoever. Therefore, when an item drops to zero durability, your character's stats will decrease accordingly.
* If an item reaches zero durability, it will remain in your inventory and may be repaired.

Having equipment reach zero durability during a duty is especially problematic. Tanks will find it harder to generate enmity, DPS will deal less damage, and healers will restore less HP and have less MP with which to do so. For that reason, it is best to keep your gear in good condition at all times.

Repairing Your Own Equipment  [NEW]  [Updated]

To repair your own gear, you must have a high enough Repair Level and materials known as Dark Matter .

Dark matter comes in various grades, and the item help window for each piece of equipment shows the grade of dark matter required to repair it.

You can obtain dark matter from vendors, market boards, and Grand Company quartermasters.

Provided that you have the requisite dark matter in your inventory, you can repair your own gear in practically any location.

To Repair Your Own Gear
Open the subcommands for an item you wish to repair and select "Repair." This will display a list of all of the items that can be repaired, and you will be given the option to "Repair All."

* You do not need to change character class to repair your own gear.

Repair Your Own Gear and Exceed 100% Durability
While menders can restore your gear to 100% durability, repairing it yourself allows you to exceed this, and have the item last even longer than usual.

For example, repairing an item that is at 99% durability will increase it to 199%.

* Placing an item in an armoire will reset its durability to 100%, even if it was previously higher.

Item Level (IL)  [NEW]  [Updated]

Overview  [NEW]  [Updated]

Item level indicates the overall strength of a piece of equipment.

The higher the item level, the better the gear.

If you have a piece of equipment with a higher item level than your current gear, use the Recommended Gear function to switch to the better item.

See Equipping Your Best Gear for more details on this feature.

Average Item Level  [NEW]  [Updated]

All of the gear your character has equipped is used to calculate your average item level.

Duties that are for characters at level 50 or higher have average item level requirements. If your average item level is too low, you cannot enter the duty.

Your average item level is displayed at the bottom-left and upper-right of the Attributes section in the Character window.

Raising Average Item Level  [NEW]  [Updated]

Until you reach level 50, average item level will not have a major impact on your ability to proceed through the game. Simply playing normally and using the Recommended Gear function should suffice, and your average item level will gradually increase.

From level 50 onwards, certain duties will be unavailable until you have a high enough average item level. Buying better gear on the market board is an effective way to raise it.

You will also earn Allagan tomestones, which can be exchanged for equipment, for completing duties of level 50 or higher.

Although it may take some time to gather enough tomestones, the gear for which they can be exchanged is very powerful.

See Allagan Tomestones Overview for more details on this feature.
