The user interface, or UI for short, refers to the various on-screen elements and menus through which a player interacts with the game. The UI in FFXIV can be adjusted in myriad ways to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.

Communication / Chat
To hide the chat log, click the "Hide Log Window" button or right-click any of the tabs below the text entry field and select "Hide Log Window."
To show the log again, press the Enter key. If direct chat is enabled, pressing any key will have the same effect.
These methods are also useful if you accidentally hide the chat log.
To hide the chat log, press the BACK button (Touch Pad button on PS5™/PS4™, View button on Xbox Series X|S) to move the cursor to the chat log, then select the "Hide Log Window" button. Alternatively, press X (□ on PS5™/PS4™, X on Xbox Series X|S) on any of the tabs below the text entry field and select "Hide Log Window."
